HIMA X-DI 16 01 Safety Function

Safety Function

The module evaluates the digital input signals and provides them to the user program.

The safety function is performed in accordance with SIL 3.

Reaction in the Event of a Fault

If a fault occurs, the module adopts the safe state and the assigned input variables transmit

the initial value to the user program.

The initial values must be set to 0 to ensure that the input variables transmit the value 0 to

the user program if a fault occurs.

The module activates the Error LED on the front plate.

Scope of Delivery

The module must be installed on a suitable connector board to be able to operate. If a FTA

is used, a system cable is required to connect the connector board to the FTA. Connector

boards, system cables and FTAs are not included within the scope of delivery

HIMA HIMax®Digital Input Module X-DI 16 01

type 1).

The module has been certified by the TÜV for safety-related applications up to SIL 3

(IEC 61508. IEC 61511 and IEC 62061), Cat. 4 (EN 954-1) and PL e (EN ISO 13849-1).

Refer to the HIMax Safety Manual (HI 801 003 E) for more information on the standards

used to test and certify the modules and the HIMax system.

HIMA X-DI 32 52 Digital Input Module has 32 inputs

Structure

The module has 32 inputs. Each channel measures the input signals through an

internalmeasuring facility.Four short-circuit-proof and current limited supplies feed

eight supply outputs each. Onesupply output is assigned to each input. The 32 inputs

can be used to evaluate the values measured for the proximity switches orwired contacts.

The switching thresholds for generating digital signals can be configured in SILworX.

The processor system for the I/O module controls and monitors the I/O level. The data

andstates of the I/O module are made available to the processor modules via the

redundantsystem bus. The system bus has a redundant structure for reasons of availability.

Redundancy is only ensured if both system bus modules are inserted in the base platesand

configured in SILworX.

HIMA X-DI 32 52 Reaction in the Event of a Fault

Safety Function

The module does not perform any safety-related functions. The module evaluates

the input signals of proximity switches and contact makers andmonitors the

proximity switch / contact maker circuit for open-circuits and short-circuits.

The parameters and status for this module must not be used for safety functions.

Reaction in the Event of a Fault

If a fault occurs, the assigned input variables transmit the initial value (default

value = 0) tothe user program. The initial values must be set to 0 to ensure that

the input variables transmit the value 0 tothe user program if a fault occurs.

If the raw value is evaluated instead of the processvalue, the user must program

the monitoring function and the value in the event of faultsfrom within the user

program. The module activates the Error LED on the front plate.

Scope of Delivery

The module must be installed on a suitable connector board to be able to operate.

If a FTAis used, a system cable is required to connect the connector board to the FTA.

Connectorboards, system cables and FTAs are not included within the scope of delivery.

The connector boards are described in Chapter 3.6. the system cables are described in

Chapter 3.7. The FTAs are described in own manuals.

HIMA X-DI 32 52 standard module

Product Description

The X-DI 32 52 standard module is a digital input module and it is intended

for use in theprogrammable electronic system (PES) HIMax.

The module can be inserted in any of the base plate slots with the exception

of the slotsreserved for system bus modules. For more information, refer to

the System Manual(HI 801 001 E).The module is used to evaluate up to 32

proximity switches in accordance withEN 60947-5-6 (NAMUR) or wired

This measureensures that a safety-related module cannot be replaced by a

standard module.Refer to the HIMax Safety Manual (HI 801 003 E) for more

information on the standardsused to test and certify the module and the

HIMax system.

HIMA X-AI 32 01 Scope of Delivery

Scope of Delivery

The module must be installed on a suitable connector board to be able to operate. If a Field

Termination Assembly (FTA) is used, a system cable is required to connect the connector board

to the FTA. Connector boards, system cables and FTAs are not included within the scope of

delivery.

The connector boards are described in Chapter 3.6. the system cables are described in

Assembly

The module has 32 analog current inputs (0/4…20 mA), each input is measured and functionally

tested using two internal measuring facilities. A short-circuit-proof transmitter supply is assigned

to each input.

The 32 analog inputs can be used to evaluate the values measured for the transmitters and

safety transmitters. Two-wire or three-wire transmitters with a maximum supply current of 30 mA

user program.

The module activates the Error LED on the front plate.

Beckhoff EL1918 | EtherCAT Terminal, 8-channel digital input

The EL1918 TwinSAFE component is a digital input terminal for sensors

with potential-free contacts for 24 V DC. The EtherCAT terminal has eight

fail-safe inputs, which are transmitted via FSoE to a TwinSAFE Logic-capable

component.

The EL1918 has safety parameters to specifically adapt the functionality to

the respective safety requirements. Thus, for example, test pulses can be

configured with fine granularity for all eight channels in order to be able

to connect as many types of sensors as possible.

The safety parameters are not stored directly on the component, but are

transmitted to the input terminal via a TwinSAFE Logic capable component

when the safety application is started. This simplifies service procedures,

because the component can simply be replaced.

Special features EL1918:

• 8 safe inputs

• integrated TwinSAFE Logic (functionality similar to the EL6910)

• up to 128 safe connections

• fine granular configuration of the test pulses of the individual channels

For applications without integrated TwinSAFE Logic, the EL1918-2200 can

be used.

Special features EL1918-2200:

• 8 safe inputs

• fine granular configuration of the test pulses of the individual channels

• TwinSAFE Logic not integrated

Beckhoff EL1918 24 V DC, TwinSAFE, TwinSAFE Logic

The safety-relevant parameters are transferred to the new component when

the safety application is restarted.

A further highlight of the EL1918 is the integration of the functionality of the

EL6910 TwinSAFE Logic. The EL1918 can also be used as a safety controller

at any time. In the default case, the EL1918 is a simple input terminal,

whose input signals are transmitted via FSoE to a TwinSAFE Logic-capable

component. It can be used directly as a safety controller in order to process

input signals directly in the terminal so as to forward only accumulated

information to a TwinSAFE Logic, or a complete safety application can be

implemented on the EL1918. The range of functions corresponds to that of

the EL6910. The only difference is the limitation of the number of possible

safe connections to 128. Apart from that, all the advantages of the new

generation of safety controllers can be used (see EL6910 customizing,

incremental download, analog value processing, etc.).

Beckhoff EL1904 | EtherCAT Terminal, 4-channel digital input, 24 V DC, TwinSAFE

The EL1904 TwinSAFE component is a digital input terminal for sensors

with potential-free contacts for 24 V DC. It has four fail-safe inputs.

The signals are transmitted via FSoE to a TwinSAFE Logic-capable

component and can be used there to evaluate them in terms of safety.

The EL1904 has safety parameters to adapt the functionality specifically

to the respective safety-oriented requirements (e.g., 1 channel evaluation

vs. 2-channel evaluation, testing of the individual channels).

The safety parameters are not stored directly on the component, but are

transmitted to the input terminal via a TwinSAFE Logic capable component

when the safety application is started. This simplifies service procedures,

because the component can simply be replaced. The safety-relevant

parameters are transferred to the new component when the safety

application is restarted.

Special features:

• 4 safe inputs

• cross-circuit detection

• 1-channel vs. 2-channel evaluation directly on the component

• testing of the channels can be activated individually
