ABB REB611 Standardized configuration

Standardized configuration

REB611 is available in one configuration.

To increase the user-friendliness of the configuration and to

emphasize the relay’s simplicity of usage, only the application

specific parameters need setting within the relay’s intended area of application.

The standard signal configuration can be altered by local HMI,

Web HMI or optional application functionality of Protection and

Control IED Manager PCM600.

Protection functions

REB611 offers phase-segregated (three phases) high

impedance differential protection and non-directional earth

fault protection for busbars, motors and generators. The relay

also offers high-impedance differential-based restricted earth

fault protection for motors, generators, reactors and power

transformers. REB611 is ideally suited for backup protection.

ABB REB611 Busbar and Multipurpose

The 611 series relays fully support the IEC 61850 standard for

communication and interoperability of substation automation

devices, including fast GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented

Substation Event) messaging, and can now also benefit from

the extended interoperability provided by Edition 2 of the

standard. The relays further support the parallel redundancy

protocol (PRP) and the high-availability seamless redundancy

(HSR) protocol. The 611 series relays are able to use IEC 61850

and Modbus® communication protocols simultaneously.

REB611 is a member of ABB’s Relion® product family and part

of the 611 protection and control product series. The 611 series

relays are characterized by their compactness and withdrawable-unit design.

The 611 series offers simplified yet powerful functionality for

most applications. Once the application-specific parameter set

has been entered, the installed protection relay is ready to be

put into service. The further addition of communication

functionality and interoperability between substation

automation devices offered by the IEC 61850 standard adds

flexibility and value to end users as well as electrical system manufacturers.

ABB REB611 Dedicated busbar protection relay

Description

REB611 is a dedicated busbar protection relay for phase

segregated short-circuit protection, control, and supervision of

single busbars. REB611 is intended for use in high-impedance

based applications within utility substations and industrial

power systems. In addition, the protection relay can be utilized

in restricted earth-fault and residual earth-fault applications for

the protection of generators, motors, transformers and reactors.

The 611 series relays fully support the IEC 61850 standard for

communication and interoperability of substation automation

devices, including fast GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented

Substation Event) messaging, and can now also benefit from

the extended interoperability provided by Edition 2 of the

standard. The relays further support the parallel redundancy

protocol (PRP) and the high-availability seamless redundancy

(HSR) protocol. The 611 series relays are able to use IEC 61850

and Modbus® communication protocols simultaneously.

ABB PF900-NR General Power Feed Module

Functionality

General

The power feed module supplies the Power Rail with a voltage of 24 V DC and a maximum current of 4 A.

The dual designed power feed terminals 8+ and 11+ or 9- and 12- have the ability to loop the supply (up

to a max. of 10 A). The integrated fault evaluation detects shorts and possible collective error messages.

In a fault condition, the relays switch closed (terminals 7 and 10) and the fault is indicated by means of a

red LED on the front panel. The mode of operation can be adjusted with a plug-in jumper. The terminals

13 and 15 are for the bus connection (only with Power Rail PR 900-N). The terminal 14 is the measuring

point for the collective error message (only planned for inspection or test, may not be wired into the

system).

Features and Benefits

■ 24 V DC supply voltage

■ Supply current ≤ 4 A

■ Bus access via terminals

■ Redundant supply

■ Fault signal output with adjustable

mode of operation

■ EMC acc. to NAMUR NE 21

ABB HS 810 Head station Functional Description

Functional Description

A Linking Device consists of one head station and at least one power link module for establishing the

connecton of PROFIBUS PA Segments to PROFIBUS DP. PROFIBUS is standardized accorting to EN 50

170/2. The head station supports all there defined transfer rates from 45.45 kBit/s up to 12 MBit/s.

The head station provides one channel. Up to 5 power link modules can be connected to one channel.

Each power link module creates a new segment.

The communication between the head station and the Power Link Modules is realized via removable

terminal blocks.

The communication is transparent. Each PA-subscriber is planned like a PROFIBUS DP subscriber and each

PA device is directly addressed like a DP slave device. The head station and the power link modules don’t

need to be planned.

It is allowed to mount the head station, and the power link modules within zone 2.

The channels are working with 31.25 kBaud (Manchaster coded). This saves from additonal time delay

within the Power Link Modules.

For detailed information please refer to the User Instructions Linking Device LD 800P

(3BDD011704R0101).

Accessories

For PROFIBUS PA applications ABB Automation Products offers the following accessories:

■ Power Link Module PL 810 without intrinsically safe interface

■ Power Link Module PL 890 with intrinsically safe interface

■ User Instructions Linking Device LD 800P (3BDD011704R0101)
