Fieldbus devices can be connected to the Power Hub with shielded

or unshielded twisted pair fieldbus cable. The controller (host), if

present, is considered to be a device.

The Power Hub provides a minimum of 30mA of power-conditioned

current for each Device Port. If the current needs of a fieldbus segment

exceed the capability of a Device Port, the Auxiliary Port can also be

used to provide additional power-conditioned current.

The Power Hub can supply up to 315mA of power-conditioned

current for all Device Ports and the Auxiliary Port. The Power Hub can

be mounted on a 35mm DIN rail. For applications where AC power is

not available, the Power Hub can also be mounted on a battery pack

(accessory FCS-A11) for fieldbus power in the field.

Current limiting SpurGuard™ protection for each Power Hub

Device Port limits the current draw of an attached cable and device and

protects against short circuits. A short circuit in a spur cable or device

will not take down the entire segment. The remaining devices on the

segment continue to operate normally.

The Relcom Power Hub (F11) is the next generation of the popular

Power Hub. Ideal for bench-tops, labs, demonstrations and test setups,

the Power Hub is a mini fieldbus segment in a box—just add devices.

The Power Hub is a combined bulk power supply, fieldbus power

conditioner, two built-in terminators, five ports for attaching devices

(Device Ports), and an Auxiliary Port for expansion and connection of

additional devices. It functions as a zero length homerun with spurs

(star topology).

The Power Hub is powered by a plug-in wall transformer with an

input voltage range of 100-240VAC (50-60Hz). Adapters are supplied

with the transformer for four different country power outlets (North

America, Europe, UK, and Australia).

Eaton supplies the widest range of Crouse-Hinds series MTL fieldbus displays from

8-variable to cost effective single-variable versions, field and panel mount variants,

safe and hazardous area versions as well as FOUNDATION fieldbus™ H1 and Profibus

PA versions. All versions are bus powered to simplify installation.

The 8-variable BA-x8x model provides a large 86 x 45 mm back-lit display with 9

standard screen options displaying 1 to 4 variables, measurement units and tags

as well as bar graphs. The operator can select the displayed screen via the front

panel push-buttons, or these buttons may be disabled. The instrument can be supplied

with six isolated alarm outputs, each of which may be linked to any of the displayed

fieldbus variables. Alarm setpoints can be entered via the front panel push-buttons,

which in turn may be protected by a security code.

Our cost effective MTL BA-x1x model displays a single fieldbus process variable on a

bold five digit display and a 31 segment analogue bargraph. It supports FOUNDATION

fieldbus™ H1 with an Input Selector fieldbus function block which is supported by most

fieldbus hosts.

Field mounted versions are housed in a robust IP66 glass reinforced polyester (GRP)

enclosure with a toughened glass window that may be surface mounted or pipe mounted

using one of the accessory kits.

Panel mounted versions provide IP66 ingress protection from the front, fitting in a standard

72 x 144mm panel cut out.

For applications in Zone 2 the BA414NDF has ATEX and IECEx Type nL approval

and is FNICO compliant.

The F809F-Plus is available with fully updated versions of eEDDL and FDT/DTM user interfaces

that are free to download from the eaton.com website. Improvements include faster operation

and clearer screen layouts, leading to an enhanced user experience. The user interfaces comply

with NAMUR specification NE107 ‘Self-Monitoring and

Diagnosis of Field Devices’, providing clear standardised diagnostic alerts using three of the four

categories; maintenance required, out of specification, and failure.

The Crouse-Hinds series MTL F809F-Plus Fieldbus Diagnostic Module continuously

monitors the performance of eight fieldbus segments, providing information on the

health of the network physical layer. It mounts on a range of MTL power supply

carriers and collects diagnostic information without interruption to normal fieldbus

communications.

As a Foundation Fieldbus™ device the MTL F809F-Plus easily integrates with the

chosen host control system via a fieldbus segment, allowing the network status

and measured parameters to be displayed in the control system’s instrument

management software.

The F809F-Plus builds on the success of the F809F, the industry’s first fieldbus-connected

diagnostic module. New features of the F809F-Plus version include superior immunity

to noise on the ‘communicating’ segment, enhanced short-to-shield detection and

extended power supply voltage measurement range for compatibility with new MTL

power supply types. It may be used as a direct replacement for F809F in existing installations;

when installed using appropriate DD files the full feature set of F809F-Plus become available

with immediate effect.

The F30 is compatible with F304. F308 and F312 Megablock

types, typically providing up to 12 Ex ic spurs per fieldbus

segment. Up to two F30s and their associated Megablocks

may be connected to a single segment, to allow the fieldbus

trunk to be extended between junction boxes in the field.

The spurs are compatible with FISCO and Entity certified

fieldbus instruments. Where FISCO instruments are selected,

cable parameter calculations are not required.

To comply with intrinsic safety requirements, each fieldbus

segment must be powered by a 918x-x2 fieldbus power

supply, fitted with 9192-FP power modules.

Ex ic replaces the earlier Ex nL technique for energy-limited

fieldbus networks, and brings the technique into line with

formal intrinsic safety procedures.

A key benefit of the MTL Ex ic spur solution is that the

fieldbus power supply has a higher output voltage than

competing products, allowing longer trunk cable lengths and

more fieldbus instruments per segment. Requirements for

ensuring compatibility with major host control systems are

also simplified.

The F30 is designed for installation in the field enclosure

together with the Megablock wiring hub. A full range of

compatible stainless steel and glass reinforced polyester

(GRP) enclosures are available.

The F30 Ex ic Adaptor is an accessory to F300 range of

Megablock wiring hubs, and provides intrinsically safe Ex ic

spur connections for fieldbus networks in Zone 2 hazardous

areas. One F30 is used with each Megablock, to limit the

voltage at the spurs to Ex ic levels. When connected to suitably

certified fieldbus instruments, the spurs may be live-worked in

accordance with normal intrinsic safety procedures. The F30 is

completely transparent to all fieldbus communications.

The F30 is compatible with F304. F308 and F312 Megablock

types, typically providing up to 12 Ex ic spurs per fieldbus

segment. Up to two F30s and their associated Megablocks

may be connected to a single segment, to allow the fieldbus

trunk to be extended between junction boxes in the field.

Connections to the Megablock are made using pluggable screw

terminal type connectors. This allows wire terminations to be made to

the individual connectors which are then plugged into the Megablock.

Devices can then be easily connected and disconnected during

commissioning. After commissioning, retaining screws are tightened

to secure each connector to the Megablock.

Short circuit protection Megablocks are available with built-in

SpurGuard™ short circuit protectors which prevent a short circuit in

any of the individual AS-i devices or spur cable runs from bringing the

entire network segment down. A red LED near each spur connection

indicates that a spur is shorted and is in overcurrent mode.

Internal Fault Indication

A red Fault LED is included on SpurGuard™ protected units. The red

Fault LED is lit if the AS–i Megablock diagnoses an internal failure.

The AS–i network continues to function in this condition, however, the

SpurGuard™ protection is not available.

* Megablocks contain active circuit components but do not contain an AS-i

chip or perform active repeater functions such as signal reconstruction or

amplification.

AS-i Megablocks are DIN-rail mounted passive* hubs for the AS-i

network. They connect several AS-i devices to the network trunk

cable and provide short circuit and over voltage to the segment. The

AS–i Megablock itself does not contain an AS–i chip or communicate

over the AS–i network, so it consumes no network communication

resources (bandwidth, slave addresses, etc.). They are used to

interconnect AS–i master and slave devices that do contain AS–i chips.

Megablocks minimize hand wiring and allow individual devices to be

added to and removed from the segment without disrupting network

communication. A green power LED on each unit indicates whether

DC power is present. Megablocks are available in four and eight drop

versions. Multiple Megablocks are easily wired to one another to allow

larger segments to be constructed.
