Johnson Controls CG and CV Series Equipment Controllers

CG and CV Series Equipment Controllers

The CG and CV series equipment controllers are versatile

equipment controllers designed to monitor, control,

and integrate a wide variety of HVAC and other building

equipment. CGM controllers support BACnet® MS/

TP and N2 communication protocols, and auto-detect

which protocol is connected to it. In MS/TP mode, these

equipment controllers are BACnet network-compliant

devices. Controllers running in N2 mode can be used to

maintain or modernize sites with installed legacy Johnson

Controls® controllers.

The CG and CV series equipment controllers feature an

advanced design that provides optimum performance.

These controllers run pre-engineered and user

programmed applications and provide the I/O required

to monitor and control a wide variety of HVAC equipment.

Johnson Controls Metasys® system FEC Family Controllers

Switchable Communications Protocols

The Metasys® system FEC Family Controllers and

network sensors communicate using either the standard

BACnetprotocol, based ontheANSI/ASHRAE135-2004.

or the BACnet/IP protocol. The BACnet protocol is a

standard for ANSI, ASHRAE, and the International

Standards Organization (ISO) for building controls.

MostFEC,VMA16.VMA18.andIOMfieldcontrollersare

BTL-listed as BACnet Application Specific Controllers

(B-ASCs). FAC field controllers and the VMA1930 Field

Controller are BTL-listed as BACnet Advanced Application

Controllers (B-AACs).

Release 10.3 and Release Module (RM) 10.2 of the

Controller Configuration Tool (CCT) can be used to switch

the Field Bus communications protocol in supported FEC,

FAC and VMAcontrollers to be either the standard

BACnetMSTPortheN2protocol.Allnewcontrollersuse

BACnet MSTP as the default communications protocol.

Switchable communications protocols in the MSTP

models provide a cost-effective upgrade and

modernization path for customers with existing N2

controllers.

Johnson Controls The FEC26 controllers are partofthe Metasys® system Field Equipment Controller (FEC) family

Application

The FEC26 controllers are partofthe Metasys® system

Field Equipment Controller (FEC) family. These

controllers run pre-engineered and user-programmed

applications and provide the inputs and outputs required

to monitor and control a wide variety of HVAC and other

facility equipment.

The FEC controllers operate on an RS-485 BACnet®

MS/TP Bus as BACnet Application Specific Controllers

(B-ASCs) and integrate into Johnson Controls® and

third-party BACnet systems.

The FEC26 controller is available with or without an

integral LCD and push button user interface.

The N2-capable FEC Family Controllers can be used as

functional replacements for legacy N2 controllers. The

N2-capable FEC Family Controllers:

• havethe input and output (I/O) quantities and

characteristics of the FEC Family Controllers

• mustbeprogrammed with CCT, which has similar,

but not identical programming capabilities as

HVACPro, GX9100. GPL, and other legacy tools

• support SA Bus devices

• areavailableinBuyAmericanversions(mostmodels)

• arelisted for UL864 UUKL/UUKLC (some models).

N2is supported as part of the Metasys® 10th Edition

listing for Smoke Control System Equipment.

The N2-capable FEC family controllers:

and M100actuators) or XT-Bus (System 91) devices

(for example, XT, XTM, and XP modules)

• donotsupport a wireless connection to the N2 bus

• donotsupport NxE passthrough

Johnson Controls Follow these guidelines when installing an NAE55

Installation

Follow these guidelines when installing an NAE55:

Johnson Controls The NAE5510-ER2 is an ideal solution for sensitive

The NAE5510-ER2 is an ideal solution for sensitive or critical BAS

device applications that require higher levels of security, where low

latency and system integrity are paramount. Financial institutions, federal

agencies, hospitals, and pharmaceutical customers are especially suited

for this product. The engine can serve new and legacy BAS systems,

preserving your current investments without compromising security.

Similar to other NAEs, the NAE-S monitors and controls networks of

field-level building automation devices, including HVAC equipment,

lighting, and security. The NAE-S can serve as either a standard

Metasys®engineonanetworkofotherenginesthat report to a Metasys

Application and Data Server (ADS) or Extended Application and Data

Server (ADX). Or, the NAE-S can be a BACnet® Building Controller

(B-BC) network engine that communicates with a BACnet Operator

Workstation (B-OWS) or a BACnet Advanced Operator Workstation

(B-AWS). With the NAE-S, you can securely connect to any other

network device that is using the same secured communications

mechanism using an external DarkNode® panel. It has built-in

encryption technology under a securely fastened enclosure to provide

for fully secure communications. For client authentication, the network

engine supports RemoteAuthentication Dial-in User Service (RADIUS),

Microsoft® Active Directory, and local Metasys user accounts.

Lastly, the NAE-S network engine can route all Metasys system events

andaudits to asmanyastothreeSyslogUDPexternalloggingservers.

Johnson Controls MS-NAE5520-0 Network Engine

Introduction

The NAE55 is a specific series of network engine

that performs a key role in the Metasys system

architecture. Network engines provide network

management and system-wide control and

coordination over one or more networks of Metasys

equipment controllers, including the following:

• General Purpose Application MS/TP Controllers (CGMs)

• VAV Box Equipment MS/TP Controllers (CVMs)

• Field Equipment Controllers (FECs) and Advanced

Application Field Equipment Controllers (FACs)

• Terminal Equipment Controllers (TECs)

• LN (LonWorks® Network) series equipment controllers

• Legacy Metasys controllers, such as Unitary

(UNT) controllers, Variable Air Volume Assembly

(VMA14xx) controllers, and DX-9100 controllers

• Third-party equipment controllers

Network engines can be networked together

for scaling up on large projects, and they can be

networked with an Application and Data Server

(ADS), an Extended Application and Data Server

(ADX), or an Open Application Server (OAS) for

additional functionality and site unification.

Network engines provide building control

scheduling, alarm and event management, energy

management, data exchange, historical data

storage and management, and custom control logic.
