The use of magnetorheological fluid (MRF) allows the imple

mentation of improved use cases on the HMI. The response

speed of the MRF technology makes various feedback pat

terns, such as ripples, blocking or torque levels possible. As

a result, different mechanical properties can be combined in

just one operating element.

The opportunities of this new patented technology comprise

KeWheel modes such as overrides for rapid traverse, for

ward feed, spindle, different handwheels, user interface input

options, hold to run buttons, and many more. The KeWheel

and all its functions can be easily integrated via a real-time

fieldbus, such as PROFINET.

With the fully adaptive Rotary-Push Button KeWheel as the

main operating element, input devices, such as overrides,

handwheels, mode-selection switches, axis travel buttons

and the user interface, can be combined in a single device.

The KeWheel provides the operator with additional informa

tion about the condition of the machine through wide-rang

ing haptic feedback. Blind operation and staying focused on

the process is therefore supported.

Due to the magnetorheological fluid used in the KeWheel,

several sensory effects and holding torques can be gener

ated instantly.

The most simple & innovative magnetic

The integration of magnetic bearing technology has never

been so easy thanks to KEBAS’s new magnetic bearing drive

system. The radically reduced number of system compo

nents leads to a highly compact, cost-efficient and easy

to-install solution.

The sensor technology of the magnetic bearing in the motor

enables extensive condition monitoring of the drive unit and

also of the process. The current condition of the machine is

available at all times and this information is transmitted to

the machine control via the central Ethernet-based field bus.

System and process optimization is thus possible at any time.

The increasing importance of turbo blower’s life cycle

costs and the technological limits of turbo systems with

airfoil bearings lead to a significant trend towards mag

netic bearing systems.

Based on KEBA’s track record with an installed base of

more than 800 magnetic bearing drive systems (waste

water aeration, yeast production) and the unique tech

nology portfolio, KEBA launches the most compact and

efficient magnetic bearing drive system for turbo blower

applications for the power range of 150 – 300 kW

(200 – 400 hp). All components of the drive and bearing

train are from a single source.

Our modular drive controllers can be perfectly integrated into the KEBA or a

third-party automation system.

Flexible communication

“One Drive fits all” – Standardized interfaces such as EtherCAT, PROFINET or

CANopen allow uniform drive technology and constant motion quality even

when using different controllers.

Advanced commissioning tools

Tools that have been tried and tested over many years ensure perfect commissioning

with their many assistant functions. These include guided commissioning, a real-time

oscilloscope or frequency response analysis for precise detection and compensation

of mechanical deficiencies.

Open motor interface

In addition to the extensive KEBA motor program, our drive controllers with their

multi-encoder interface and various control models are open for special or third-party

motors. The automatic user-guided motor identification optimizes all control parameters.

Scaleable Safe Motion Packages

All drive controllers are already equipped with the STO function as standard.

Additional safety functions and packages ensure compliance with applicable regulations,

depending on the application. Safe motion monitoring can be activated and parameterized

via I/O or FSoE fieldbus communication.

Digital control technology

Control technology makes the difference at KEBA.

A sophisticated control structure and predictive pre-controls allow the

greatest possible dynamics with the highest level of accuracy.

Mechanical inadequacies are corrected online using adaptive processes,

and mechanical oscillations or vibrations are suppressed or filtered out.

Inadequacies in the mechanical transmission path can include encoder

errors, friction and cogging torques, resonance frequencies or asymmetries

in gantry applications.

A variety of analysis and compensation functions are available in our drive

controllers for this purpose.

Autotuning for easy commissioning identifies the machine mechanics and

parameterizes the control loops quickly and reliably.

To reduce downtimes, the drive system and the coupled mechanics are

constantly monitored. Defects are diagnosed quickly and wear is diagnosed

in advance. The internal evaluation of all data ensures fast analyses, only the

results are transmitted to the factory automation in real time.

Drive solutions that move

KEBA servo controllers offer high dynamics and precision for a wide

range of applications in industrial automation. Our focus is on

comprehensive support for system integration and the selection of

suitable drive solutions.

For simple and efficient integration into existing automation solutions

solutions, various bus systems including EtherCAT, Profinet, CAN and a

large number of analog and digital encoders are supported.

Furthermore, KEBA servo drives can be easily integrated into existing

safety solutions; integrated Safe Motion solutions up to SIL 3.
