DEIF ASC-4 Battery Automatic Sustainable Controller

Energy source, power source, or droop mode

The ASC-4 Battery is suitable for grid-forming or grid-following applications,

and it supports energy source or power source functions.

It is also able to run in droop mode (acting as a virtual synchronous generator)

if the ESS supports this. The ASC-4 Battery can switch operating modes

very quickly as required. It supports grid/power quality support with active

or reactive power, spinning reserve capability (reducing the number of gensets running),

frequency and load response, and load control.

Built-in power metering

The built-in power metering feature of the ASC-4 Battery measures busbar voltage,

current, and frequency before and after the breakers. Operation and mode switches

can be configured to be based on these readings, for example carrying out mode

switches based on voltage and frequency changes.

Full compatibility with wide range of equipment

The ASC-4 Battery can communicate with a BCU (battery control unit) or directly

with a BMS (battery management system) and PCS (power control system) over Modbus,

allowing it to be used with a wide range of ESSes. It is designed for full compatibility

with DEIF controllers, allowing you to set up an EMS quickly and efficiently.

For an updated compatibility list for the controller, see Application Notes on the Documentation tab.

DEIF ASC-4 Wide range of control strategies

The ASC-4 Battery lets you quickly and easily add energy storage systems (ESS)

such as batteries in greenfield hybrid applications with other DEIF controllers,

providing seamless energy storage in commercial and industrial applications.

The DEIF ASC-4 Battery is a highly configurable sustainable energy storage

controller that allows seamless integration of an ESS in greenfield applications

with other DEIF controllers such as the AGC-4 Mk II advanced genset

controller and other sustainable controllers in our ASC-4 range.

Wide range of control strategies

The ASC-4 Battery lets you store and use green power from PV panels and wind turbines.

The controller handles charging and discharging as required by the operating scenario,

based on state of charge control of the ESS or using Schedular-Command timers

that allow you to define which sources to charge from, and when.

It includes control strategies such as peak shaving, load take-over, fixed power,

automatic mains failure (AMF), and mains power export (MPE), allowing it to be

used for a wide range of applications. You can define and change the priority of connected power

sources.

DEIF’s Power Management system

Power management applications

DEIF’s Power Management system fully integrates the sustainable power plant

and the genset plant into a unity. The ASC Plant Management is connected to

the CAN bus constituting the internal DEIF Power Management communication link.

For that reason, this approach is only applicable for plants equipped with AGC Plant Management

controllers.

Stand-alone applications

In stand-alone applications, the ASC Plant Management knows little about the

surrounding environment in which it is placed. Based on power readings and breaker positions,

the ASC Plant Management determines the power references to the sustainable power plant.

This approach is applicable for integrating sustainable power in already commissioned genset plants,

whether they are equipped with DEIF controllers or not. Stand-alone applications

support applications containing up to 16 gensets.

Plug’n’play HMI touch screen

For improved user-friendliness, we’ve even created a plug and play touch screen

display for hybrid projects. It’ll present all relevant data to you in real time,

for instance power metre and inverter readings, PV penetration/performance ratio and much, much more.

DEIF ASC plant management Ideal for self-consumption applications

Spinning reserve

The ASC Plant Management offers spinning reserve support as a percentage of the produced power,

as part of an existing superior system (for instance an existing PLC system) or by means

of short-term cloud detection functionality, depending on your application and requirements.

Ideal for self-consumption applications

While in grid parallel mode, the ASC Plant Management is capable of feeding surplus PV

energy to the grid and generate profit in accordance with grip operator feed-in tariffs.

Alternatively, the ASC Plant Management can regulate the PV production to match the

self-consumption thereby preventing any feed-in of PV power

to the grid if prohibited by grid operator regulations.

DEIF Ideal for self-consumption applications

Minimum genset load in island operation

Minimum genset load constraint is available in the ASC Plant Management.

The constraint applies in island operation only. This constraint will cause the

sustainable power penetration to decrease in case it is compromised.

This is to secure a certain amount of load on the gensets, eliminating the risk

of reverse power situations and impure combustion and exhaust problems.

DEIF ASC plant management Automatic sustainable controller

Automatic sustainable controller, ASC Plant Management

Serving as a link between photovoltaic (PV) power plants and genset power plants,

DEIF’s Automatic Sustainable Controller (ASC Plant Management) is

a safe and reliable control solution for PV/genset hybrid plants.

Maximising sustainable power penetration

The ASC Plant Management will in any operation mode automatically maximise

sustainable power penetration, depending on the total load demand to

the hybrid without compromising constraints such as minimum genset load demand.

DEIF AGC 150 Remote Display Same features as the master controller

Same features as the master controller

The AGC 150 Remote Display gives you access to all of the features in the master

controller it is linked to, making remote configuration of controller parameters

as easy as using the master controller itself. The user-friendly display and menu

structure in 8 languages is the same as the rest of the AGC 150 series.

Configuration changes performed on the AGC 150 Remote Display are immediately

eflected on the master controller, and vice versa.

Flexible connection options

Installation and connection of the AGC 150 Remote Display is quick and easy.

The unit can be connected to its master controller over the local network through

an Ethernet switch or using a point-to-point cable connection, and the front-mounted

IP 65 classified enclosure is as easy to install as all other controllers in the series.

DEIF AOP Additional operator panel

Developed for mounting directly in the panel front, the AOP is separately connected

to the standard display via cable and has been developed specifically for endusers,

who prefer lamp indications instead of display text messages.

The AOP makes it possible to optimise the panel perfectly for the exact application,

displaying only information relevant to the operator.

In designing the AOP, customer-configuration was a direct goal on all functionality levels,

and all LEDs and push-buttons can be configured separately during

commissioning in close cooperation with the end-user.

All LEDs can be configured for both alarm and function indication via the PC software.

The LED colour is also configurable (green, red or yellow):

• Red could be used for alarm indication

• Green could be used for “OK” indication

• Yellow could be used for status of different sequences

The push-buttons are also fully configurable and can be used for a multitude of functional purposes.

DEIF AMC 600 Robust and well protected

Wide operating temperature range

The sturdy electronics design of the AMC 600 gives it a design lifetime of 10 years

at 40 °C ambient temperature, and the ability to operate from -40 to 70 °C. As a result,

you can use the AMC 600 all over the world. It can start from -40 °C and

can be stored from -40 to 85 °C. It will operate at a relative humidity

from 5 to 97% (condensing at 55 °C). This contributes to lower service costs,

and the long lifetime ensures high value for your investment and minimises electronic waste.

Robust and well protected

The AMC 600 is designed for robustness based on the proven AWC 500 design.

The base-mounted rack design makes the AMC 600 resistant to bumps (25 g),

shocks (50 g), and vibrations, even during transportation.

The backplane interconnection of the I/O modules ensures reliable communication

in harsh environments, avoiding long-term damage often seen with slide-in contacts.

The flanges ensure improved grounding to increase protection against EMC,

and its built-in protection circuits safeguard the controller from surges and

fast transients up to 4kV, electrostatic discharge up to 6kV.

DEIF AMC 600 Fast, fail-safe, and secure system software

Fast, fail-safe, and secure system software

The AMC 600 uses a Linux OS maintained in-house by DEIF, a fast-starting, fail-safe,

robust, and secure system software. The architecture of the platform is fully open,

giving you full access to system set-up, plus a world of options including web-based configuration,

user management, IEC 61131-3 programming via CODESYS V3.5. and secure web-based visualisation.

A wide range of communication protocols like MODBUS RTU/TCP, OPC UA, CAN/CANopen, J1939.

and PROFINET are provided as standard. Controller redundancy is supported by the CODESYS

Controller Redundancy feature via Single Licenses.

The AMC 600 has two OS images that are separate from the application.

If a start-up or software update fails, the unit switches to the other image and completes the operation.

Both images can be updated, and troubleshooting can be carried out, using remote access.

The AMC 600 handles software updates itself.
