Vibro-Meter RLC16 Relay card Relay card Description

Description of the RLC16 Relay Card

The RLC16 relay card is designed for use in Meggitt Sensing Systems’ VM600 Series

Vibrometer® product line for mechanical protection systems as well as condition and performance

monitoring systems.

It is an optional card for use when the four relays on the IOC4T I/O card

are insufficient for the application and additional relays are required.

The RLC16 is mounted on the rear of the VM600 (ABE04x) rack and connects directly to the rack

backplane via a connector.

The RLC16 contains 16 relays with changeover contacts.

Vibro-Meter VM600 AMC8 and IOC8T Analog Monitor Card Pairs CJC

The source and type of each channel is selectable during card configuration.

Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) sensor processing is used for the thermocouple temperature

channel and can be used for two of the eight channels, also selectable during card configuration.

All inputs are conditioned and compared to user-configurable alarms that are defined through Meggitt’s VM600 MPSx software.

A pair of AMC8/IOC8T cards is configured (i.e. operated independently) via the RS-232 port on the front panel of the relevant AMC8 card.

The AMC8 card also provides access to the CPUx card (ABE04x only) in slot 0 of the VM600 rack via the VME bus.

These interfaces allow the operator to configure the VM600 card, access measurements,

view detailed board status, upload firmware updates, and more.

The AMC8 card can drive the four local relays on the IOC8T card, as well as any of the 16 relays

on the RLC16 card using the VM600 rack’s raw bus and/or open collector (OC) bus.

These cards also provide analog signal outputs based on current (0 to 25 mA). Voltage outputs are also supported.

Vibro-Meter VM600 AMC8 and IOC8T Analog Monitor Card Pairs Description

Description

AMC8 Card

The AMC8 is an analog monitoring card designed for use in the VM600 rack-mounted system

in the Meggitt Vibrometer® product family for machinery monitoring and protection applications.

This versatile card is capable of measuring and monitoring up to eight analog signal inputs simultaneously.

The AMC8 card is available in two versions: a “standard” version and a “circuit independent” version,

both of which are available as card pairs using the corresponding IOC8T input/output card.

The AMC8 card is mounted on the front of the VM600 rack (ABE04x or ABE056) and the IOC8T I/O card is mounted on the rear.

Both cards connect directly to the rack backplane via two connectors.

A pair of AMC8/IOC8T cards provides eight channels of temperature monitoring that accept resistance

temperature detector (RTD) and thermocouple (TC) temperature inputs as well as process inputs.

Vibro-Meter VM600 IOC4T Input/Output Card Control signals

Control signals

– Alarm Reset (AR): A closed contact between the DSI AR and DSI RET inputs resets (clears) the

MPC4/IOC4T card’s alarm to lockout.

NOTE: The alarm reset input (DSI AR) is edge sensitive and requires a high to low transition to activate the

reset.

– Danger Bypass (DB) : A closed contact between the DSI DB and DSI RET inputs inhibits (bypasses) the

Danger Relay output.

– Trip Multiplier (TM): The closed contact between the DSI TM and DSI RET inputs multiplies

the alarm level by a scaling factor (configurable via software) for adaptive monitoring.

Principle of operation: Detects open or closed circuits on the inputs Alarm outputs

Alarm relays: 4 per IOC4T card.

The MPC4 card can drive the four local relays on the IOC4T card, as well as the relays on

the RLC16 relay card and/or the IRC4 Smart Relay card via the Raw bus or open collector (OC) bus in the

VM600 chassis.

See Relay Characteristics on page 4 for IOC4T card relay functions.
