Redundancy concept

RTU560 product line increases availability with a flexible

redundancy concept which is suitable for all types of redun

dant requirements:

− Redundant power supply

− Redundant communication links to the control center and

sub devices

− Redundant pairs of communication units

Redundant power supplies and communication units can be

replaced even during operation, ensuring a reliable system.

Integrated real time clocks

Synchronization of RTU’s internal time with time information

from module ensures that process information from several

terminal units are synchronized, thus providing reliable and

precise system operation. The easy to use real time clock

modules are ready for plug and play.

ABB rack-based RTU560

ABB’s RTU560 product line offers the highest possible

flexibility. These rack-based RTUs are suitable for complex

configurations with a large number of data points.

Additionally the RTU560 product line offers various

redundancy concepts.

RTU560 product line

The rack-based RTU560 product line offers a flexible and

modular design with maximum possibilities for extendibility.

The multi-processor architecture combined with the support

of the full software functionality of the RTU500 series make

for the perfect solution for applications in transmission and

sub transmission.

What is more, the RTU560 product line offers a redundancy

concept for high reliability, including redundant communica

tion units (CMU) and power supplies.

ABB’s real time clocks are available as:

− GPS receiver: worldwide, time information received from

global positioning system

− DCF 77 Receiver: Germany & central Europe

− IRIG-B /AFNOR connector: North and Central America

D235 A is a general purpose interface

device which provides digital and analog

inputs and outputs. Redundancy of all

system interfaces by means of two PC

D235 A devices is supported.

The device is based on the AC 800PEC

control platform and includes the FPGA

based control module PD D205 A,

application interface board UC D208 A,

power supply KU D210 A and one

optical module UF D202 A.

The device is powered by a redundant

24 volt supply input.

ABB Stressometer® Systems Digital Transmission Unit PFSA107

ABB’s Digital Transmission Unit provides non-contact,

maintenance-free sensor excitation and signal transmission

from the Stressometer® flatness measurement roll.

Measurement made easy

Digital Transmission Unit

The DTU is built to be completely insensitive to

tough mill environments. The main features are:

• Signal transmission over a non-contact capacitive

link. The link is not affected by the surrounding air

quality which could be the case with optical links.

• Sensor excitation using a non-contact rotating

transformer.

• Maintenance-free hybrid bearings are used to

ensure a long lifetime.

• All measurement signals are transmitted through

a fiber optic cable to the control cabinet.

Direct and parallel measurement

It is important that all measurement points are

processed in parallel, i.e. at the same time.

This means that strip tension variations will

influence all measurement points in the same

way and thus will not influence the actual flatness

measurement.

• Termination for up to eight (8) 2/3/4/ wire RTDs or sixteen (16) TC / mV process

signals within a horizontal row.

• All SD I/O modules & bases of all types (Singular or Redundant) AND (Compact or

Full-size), are 100% fully compatible with each other. Thus, Singular & Redundant,

Compact or Full-size I/O modules can be mounted within a single, common HN800 I/O bus.

• Optional mechanical keying can be implemented to prevent insertion of the wrong I/O

module type.

• Latching device on the base locks the base into position on DIN-Rail.

• Industry standard 35-mm DIN rail, Horizontal row mounting.

The HBS01-CJC the mounting base is for Singular AI03 (8-CH) RTD and AI04 (16-CH)

TC & mV Analog Input modules. The base includes a built-in RTD that can be used

for Cold Junction Compensation.

The REF 543 feeder terminal is designed for protection, control, measurement

and supervision in medium voltage networks The REF 543 feeder terminal can

be used with different kinds of switchgear, including single busbar, double busbar

and duplex systems.

The protection functions also support different types of networks, such as, isolated

neutral networks, resonant-earthed networks and partially earthed networks. 

The application area also covers medium-sized three phase asynchronous motors

as well as protection and control of shunt capacitor banks used for reactive power

compensation.

Before beginning, some basic checklist items

All information regarding the control of your application

should be gathered from the ACH550 prior to selecting and

performing the actual replacement, control and parameter

settings should be noted to ensure consistency in the

replacement ACH580.

This checklist covers the main information you may require to

guide you through the replacement process. If the ACH550

cannot be powered, the technician should gather all the

information below that is not parameter related.
