Allen-Bradley 1788-DNBO Description

The Allen-Bradley 1788-DNBO is a DeviceNet daughter card.

About the 1788-DNBO

The Allen-Bradley 1786-DNBO is a DeviceNet daughter card. This daughter card can be used with any Allen-Bradley device that is compatible with this module.

To configure the DeviceNet daughter card, RSNetWorx for DeviceNet V3.0 Service Pack 2 is required, which is needed to include the module in the system scan list.

To set the network address of the 1788-DNBO, the 1788-DNBO www.cniacs.com provides two (2) switches. Valid node addresses are 0-63. which is the range of nodes supported by the DeviceNet network. In general, the node address of a daughter card must be unique and there can be no duplicate addresses in the network. In addition, setting the node address to 99 and rebooting the module erases the scan table defined on the daughter card, so only do this if you need to erase the scan table. Switch settings will be read at power-up to determine the set address and expected operation of the daughter card.

The network transfer rate can be configured using another hardware switch mounted on the daughter card. This switch is located next to the removable connector and allows you to set the speed, e.g. 125 Kb when set to zero (0), 250 Kb when set to one (1) and 500 Kb when set to two (2).

The daughter card is equipped with status indicators, such as the Network Status (NS) and I/O Status indicators. The Network Status Indicator is a two-colour LED that typically shows the status of the communication link, and the I/O Status Indicator is also a two-colour LED that shows the I/O scanning speed.
