ABB UNITROL 1005 Automatic voltage regulators (AVR)

Introduction

This document is a quick installation guide for the UNITROL1005 automatic

voltage regulator. Make sure that you read and understand this document

before you install or use the product. This document is meant only as a brief

guide to the product. For detailed information on the product, refer to the User

Manual.

Device description

UNITROL 1005 is an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) for synchronous

machines up to 80MVA. The AVR can be used for the excitation of indirectly

excited synchronous machines and motors. The AVR can also operate as a

reactive power regulator, power factor regulator or field current regulator.

Installation procedure:

1. Refer to Dimensions for the mounting hole dimensions.

2. Make the appropriate holes in the installation plate.

3. Attach the AVR to the installation plate with suitable hardware, for example,

M6 screws to a torque of 10Nm. The mounting holes have a diameter of 6.5mm.

4. Make sure that there is a good electrical ground connection between the

installation plate and the AVR. The installation plate must be electrically grounded (PE).

ABB Vertical Measurement PFCL 201

Mounting arrangement

When choosing a mounting arrangement, it is important to remember to place the load

cell in a direction that provides sufficient measuring force (FR) to achieve the highest possible accuracy.

There is no specific correct orientation for the load cell; it should be placed in the direction

best suited to the application, taking into account the location of the screw holes.

It is also possible to mount the load cell by suspending the roll below the load cell.

The load cell has the same sensitivity in tension and compression,

so the load cell can be mounted in the easiest way possible.

Typical mounting methods are horizontal and inclined mounting.

Compression is the total reduction in load cell height when the load is increased from zero to the rated

value.

ABB Measuring principle of the load cell

Compression

Measuring principle of the load cell

The measuring principle of the load cell is based on the Pressductor® technology and

the fact that the magnetic permeability of magnetic materials changes under mechanical stress.

The load cell is a thin film machined on the load cell. The primary and secondary

windings are wound at right angles through four holes in the load cell.

The primary winding is powered by alternating current, which generates a magnetic

field around the primary winding. Since the two windings are wound at right angles to each other,

no magnetic field is generated around the secondary winding as long as there is no load on the load cell.

When the sensor is subjected to a mechanical force in the measuring direction,

the propagation of the magnetic field changes to encircle the secondary winding,

generating an alternating voltage in this winding.

The control unit converts this alternating voltage into a DC voltage proportional to the external force.

If the measuring force changes direction, the sensor signal also changes polarity.

ABB S750 series End of Life Instruction

End of Life Instruction

Decommissioning instructions available to enable responsible

recycling or disposal

Purpose and Basic Description

This product family is in the scope of European Union directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electri

cal and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The product family must be disposed according to the

legislation of the country. This the end-of-life instructions is intended for use by customers

and recycling companies which outline the responsible recycling or disposal method of the

ABB product.

Selective main circuit-breakers of the S 750 series are SMCBs based on DIN VDE 0641-21 with

voltage-independent operating principle. This means that they do not rely on a control circuit

to make or break contact (SHU) and are therefore particularly suitable for use in energy distri

bution systems with maximum availability requirements. They offer total selectivity to down

stream MCBs and outstanding selectivity to upstream protective devices due to unique cur

rent limiting selectivity.

More than 1 pole product:

In case of more than 1 pole, first, the toggle lock(1), the connecting part(2) and the two marked

rivets(3) should be removed to split the product into simple poles.

1 pole product:

On that point, all single poles will be dismantling on the same way.

Firstly, remove the rivets (only 5 rivets left in products of more than 1 pole), then you will be

able to take out the cover and access to all the internal parts.
