ABB L&W Bending Tester Ease of operation

Ease of operation

L&W Bending Tester is easy to use with a large touchscreen interface

and intuitive menus, saving operator time and effort. Operators can

quickly change settings from the screen, with correct authorization.

It provides easy calibration and simple instrument check with included

check plate and gives a quick overview of  results for an entire series.

The bending curve with break angle/force in dication allows quick analysis

of the test to identify any erroneous measurements.

Operation is automated once the operator hits start. First, the instrument

is connected to power and pressurized air, and the operator selects either

a standard or pre-set, custom program. The pre cisely cut test piece can

be easily loaded in the measuring clamps and correctly aligned with the

loadcell with the help of sample support.

The operator simply places the test piece inside the clamp with one hand,

while the other hand starts operation with the  ergonomically placed start

button. The clamps are automatically closed with fixed pressure for precise

measurement.

Bending length detection ensures that the bending length selected in program

settings matches the manually set bending length, or otherwise warns the

operator with an error message.

ABB L&W ZD Tensile Tester

Even strength within specifications and across the reel width

L&W ZD Tensile Tester measures internal bond strength – or Z-direction (ZD)

tensile forces – of paper and multi-layered paper products, such as linerboard

and box board. The tester uses an automated method and you obtain fast

and reliable measurement values, which make it possible to achieve uniform

strength across the reel width. All in compliance with customer specifications,

as well as in accordance with applicable standards (ISO, TAPPI, SCAN).

Full control of the internal bond strength, is particularly important in the

production of multi-layered paper products. Low or unevenly distributed

internal bond strength can cause material splitting in an offset press with

sticky printing ink. In the creasing or scoring operation of boxboard the

material should delaminate “just enough”. Otherwise after folding there

will be poor folding lines or cracks in the outer layer. Internal bond strength

tests can predict this.

Enough internal bond strength is also needed in heat-set web offset printing

of highly coated paper. Otherwise blistering will occur when moisture will try

to escape during the heating process. Too high internal bond strength impedes

the creasing of the boxboard and high values also mean a waste of raw material

and energy. In other words, the aim is to achieve an even strength within

specifications and across the reel width. L&W ZD Tensile Tester can achieve this.

ABB Zirconia Oxygen Analyzer High Temperature Version ZDT–GP Series

The ZDT Oxygen Analyzer is designed for continuous

monitoring of oxygen content in applications using ‘in situ’

ZGP2 probes.

Operation and programming of the ZDT Analyzer is via four

tactile membrane switches and a digital display located on the

front of the instrument. Two l.e.d.’s on the front panel provide

local alarm indication.

In operation, the instrument can display measured % oxygen,

cell mV, or cell temperature. Set up of alarm, retransmission

and calibation parameters is achieved in programming mode,

where key parameters are protected by a five-digit security

code.

Measured %O2 values can be retransmitted to remote

equipment using the retransmission output facility. The range

of values retransmitted can be set anywhere within the

instrument’s display range of 0 to 25% O2. subject to limits

detailed in Section 7.7.

Remote alarm indication is provided by two relay outputs.

Relays are programmed to activate when the oxygen level

moves either above or below a pre-defined set point. The

second alarm relay can also be used as a ‘general alarm’

which activates in the event of an instrument or system fault.

An optional external reference air unit is used to provide

reference air supply for the ZGP2 probe. If this unit is not

specified, reference air must be supplied to the probe from an

alternative source.

For full installation and operation details of the ZGP2 probe

refer to the operating manual, IM/ZGP2.

ABB TZIDC ‘Fail-safe’ safety function

‘Fail-safe’ safety function

If the electric power supply fails, the positioner output 1 is

depressurized and the return spring in the pneumatic

actuator moves the valve to the safe position. In case of a

‘double-acting’ version, output 2 is additionally pressurized.

‘Fail-freeze’ function

If the electric power supply fails, the positioner Output 1

(and Output 2 if applicable) is closed and the pneumatic

actuator blocks the valve in the current position. If the

compressed air supply power fails, the positioner

depressurizes the actuator.

Use

The positioner has a built-in operating panel providing a 2

line LCD indicator and 4 operating buttons for

commissioning, configuration and monitoring during live

operation.

Alternatively, the appropriate configuration program can be

used via the available communication interface.

Communication

The positioner has a local communication interface (LCI) as

standard. Additionally, a ‘HART® communication’ option for

communication via the 20 mA signal is available. Both

communications are based on the HART® Protocol.

Alternatively, HART®5 or HART®7 are available.

Inputs / Outputs

In addition to its input for the analog position setpoint, the

positioner is equipped with a digital input which can be used

to activate control system functions in the device. A digital

output allows you to output collective messages (alarms /

faults).

Modular design

The basic model can be enhanced at any time by retrofitting

optional equipment.

Option modules can be installed for analog and digital

position feedback.

Additionally, a mechanical position indicator, proximity

switches or 24 V microswitches are available for indicating

the position independently of the mother board function.

ABB TZIDC Digital positioner

Brief description

The TZIDC is an electronically configurable positioner with

communication capabilities designed for mounting on

pneumatic linear or rotary actuators. It features a small and

compact design, a modular construction, and an excellent

cost-performance ratio.

Fully automatic determination of the control parameters and

adaptation to the positioner allow for considerable time

savings as well as optimum control behavior.

Pneumatics

An I/P module with subsequent pneumatic amplifier is used

to control the pneumatic actuator. The well-proven I/P

module proportionally converts the permanent electrical

setpoint signal from the CPU into a pneumatic signal used to

adjust a 3/3-way valve.

Dosing of the air flow for pressurizing or depressurizing the

actuator is continuously adjusted. As a result, excellent

control results are achieved. When reaching the setpoint, the

3/3-way valve is closed in center position to minimize the air

consumption.

The pneumatic system can be supplied in four versions: for

single acting and double acting actuators and each with the

‘fail-safe’ / ‘fail-freeze’ safety function.

ABB OEM LABELING PROGRAM More individuality for your positioner

For ABB, the customer has always been the key focus of the

process chain. Therefore we would like to go a step further

in the Actuators & Positioners product line and show our

customers new possibilities within the scope of our OEM

Labeling Program that could possibly inspire them with

new ideas and incentives.

Our positioner portfolio features many different

product-related possibilities as a part of our OEM Labeling

Program. By this we understand and distinguish to and make

a distinction between ‘Labeling light’ and ‘Full labeling’.

In this brochure, we will present the different possibilities

available based on examples for the TZIDC, TZIDC-110.

TZIDC-120. EDP300 and TEIP11 types. The ‘light’ OEM

Labeling Program includes two components which the

customer can freely configure:

•  Color

•  Naming

COLOR

The customer can choose any color from the RAL color palette.

By providing the RAL color number, any misunderstandings

and interpretations are excluded, since the coding corre

sponds to an international standardized color tone.

Color requests beyond the RAL palette are also an option.

We will be happy to try to fill such requests in cooperation

with our suppliers. Feel free to contact us in this regard. The

customized color requests always apply to the cover for the

TEIP11. For the TZIDC, they apply to the bottom and top

parts of the housing.

For the TEIP11. the bottom parts of the housing are always

in the black color and coating system. Due to certification

specifications, we unfortunately cannot implement different

color requests on the bottom parts of the housing.

For the EDP300. the color implementation involves applying

print in a RAL color near the label names on the HMI. See the

examples below.

ABB EDP300 The solution – accurate measurements for maximum energy efficiency

The solution – accurate measurements for

maximum energy efficiency

Thanks to an (innovative control algorithm taken

from the field of robotics, the EDP300 positioner

stands out thanks to its speed and accuracy.

Overshooting and slow recovery times are both

prevented, allowing the EDP300 to significantly

optimize compressed air consumption, energy

efficiency and the ʹecological footprintʹ of pneu

matic control circuits.

Subsequently, the EDP300 is able to help reduce

cost with its unique electro-pneumatic system,

providing unsurpassed low air/gas consumption

at steady state. The EDP300 can also be used in

applications with natural gas as the supply energy,

eliminating the need for compressed instrument

air. ABB is the only supplier able to offer customers

a premium positioner that features these pneu

matic properties.
