EtherCAT® Bus Coupler

The EtherCAT® Bus Coupler connects Real-Time Ethernet systems via modular, expandable electronic terminal blocks. A complete unit consists of a Bus Coupler, a set of Bus Terminals and a terminal.

The EtherCAT Coupler connects the real-time Ethernet system EtherCAT with modular, expandable electronic terminal blocks. A unit consists of a Bus Coupler, a set of terminals and a terminal.

The Bus Coupler recognizes the connected Bus Terminals and automatically assigns them to the EtherCAT process image. The Bus Coupler is connected to the network via the upper Ethernet interface. The lower RJ 45 socket can be used to connect other EtherCAT devices in the same strand.

In an EtherCAT network, the EtherCAT Coupler www.cniacs.com can be installed anywhere in the Ethernet signaling section (100BASE-TX) – except directly on the switch.

EtherCAT (Ethernet Control Automation Technology) is an Ethernet solution for industrial automation characterized by excellent performance and particularly simple operation. etherCAT enables Ethernet star topologies to be replaced by simple line structures. In addition, EtherCAT can also be wired in the “classic” way using switches for the integration of additional Ethernet devices. The master does not require special plug-in cards and can be realized on any existing Ethernet controller using very simple interfaces. EtherCAT is therefore also ideally suited for small and medium-sized control applications and will open up new fields of application for distributed I/O.

For EtherCAT, stand-alone I/O systems with protection class IP 20 are available as EtherCAT Terminals. Unlike the Bus Terminals, in which the fieldbus signals are realized in a Bus Coupler on a terminal bus that is internally independent of the fieldbus, the EtherCAT protocol remains fully intact within the individual terminal.

Kollmorgen DIGIFAS7201 Digital Industrial Servo Amplifier

The Digifas 7201 is a digital industrial servo amplifier designed by Kollmorgen to aid the automated control of industrial servo systems.

The amplifier is designed for the 6SM synchronous brushless synchromesh motor range; it also features a sophisticated design that allows it to operate over a very wide speed range with accurate control at that speed.

The industrial operator’s enclosure is IP20 rated; therefore, the servo amplifier is completely protected from foreign solid materials with an outside diameter greater than 12 mm.

Under ideal operating conditions, the Digifas 7201 servo drive amplifier operates at up to 95 per cent efficiency; the amplifier can maintain this high level of motor www.cniacs.com efficiency for more than five years without any significant machine braking.

The Digifas 7201 servo amplifier is designed with a three-phase electrical connector through which it can receive the rated current required for optimum operation.

The rated supply voltage that can be used for this industrial machine is between 80 and 400 volts; this voltage should be supplied at a frequency between 50 and 60 Hz.

The electrical components of this industrial servo drive are susceptible to electrical damage; therefore, it is important for the operator to connect the amplifier to a fuse.

This fuse protects the controller’s power circuits from sudden electrical surges that often occur in industrial servo systems.

The industrial servo drive operates in a permissible ambient temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius; this is important to prevent overheating that often occurs when the servo amplifier operates in ambient temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
