ABB Remote I/O RIO600 Product Guide Communication

Communication

RIO600 supports the horizontal GOOSE

communication of the IEC 61850 substation

automation standard.

RIO600 is designed to send and receive binary

signals to or from the ABB Relion® series IEDs

and the station automation device COM600 using

the IEC 61850-8-1 GOOSE (Generic Object

Oriented Substation Event) profile.

RIO600 communication module includes a

galvanic Ethernet RJ-45 port for IEC 61850

GOOSE communication. The used cable type

must be at least Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) CAT5e.

Using the same Ethernet port, RIO600 can be

connected in parallel to PCM600 and a Web

browser over the same communication bus.

Indication LEDs

RIO600 is equipped with different indication LEDs

available on different modules.

•Ready LED on all modules

•Status indication LED for each binary input and output

•Communication diagnostic LED on the communication module

ABB CI854B Ability™ System 800xA® hardware selector

PROFIBUS DP is a high speed multipurpose bus protocol (up to

12Mbit/s) for interconnecting field devices, like remote I/O,

drives, low voltage electrical equipment, and controllers.

PROFIBUS DP can be connected to the AC 800M via the CI854B

communication interface. The CI854B includes two PROFIBUS

ports to realize line redundancy and it also supports PROFIBUS

master redundancy.

Master redundancy is supported in PROFIBUS-DP communication

by using two CI854B communication interface modules. The

master redundancy can be combined with CPU redundancy and

CEXbus redundancy (BC810). The modules are mounted on a DIN

rail and interface directly with the S800 I/O system, and other I/O

systems as well, including all PROFIBUS DP/DP-V1 and

FOUNDATION Fieldbus proficient systems.

The PROFIBUS DP must be terminated at the two outermost

nodes. This is usually done by using connectors with built-in

termination. To guarantee a correct working termination the

connector has to be plugged and power supplied.

Package including: a CI854BK01 Communication Interface and a

TP854 Baseplate.

ABB CI854B Features and benefits

Features and benefits

• Used for connecting remote I/O and fieldbus instruments via PROFIBUS DP

• Possible to connect PROFIBUS PA to the CI854B via the PROFIBUS linking device LD 800P

• The CI854B can be set redundant

CI857 ABB Ability™ System 800xA® hardware selector

Features and benefits

• Maximum number of MCUs (or other INSUM devices) per AC 800M: – 256 MCUs (or other INSUM

devices) per AC 800M with PM864 or PM866. – 128 MCUs (or other INSUM devices) per AC 800M

with PM861.

• Maximum 6 CI857 per AC 800M.

• Maximum 128 MCUs (or other INSUM devices) per CI857.

• Maximum 2 INSUM TCP/IP Gateways per CI857.

• Maximum 128 INSUM devices per INSUM TCP/IP gateway.

• Four LonWorks subnets per INSUM TCP/IP gateway.

• Maximum 32 devices per LonWorks subnet.

INSUM integration into AC 800M supports higher functionality

integration, multidrop configurations, time distribution and time

stamping in the switchgear, and utilizes standard Ethernet

technology for longer communication distances. The speed of this

solution is typically 500 ms for one closed loop (indication from

one motor until operation of another, assuming 250 ms cycle time

in control execution).

AC 800M controllers access the INSUM functions through function

blocks in the INSUM Communication Library. The CI857 is powered

by the processor unit, via the CEX-Bus, and therefore does not

require any additional external power source.

CI874 ABB Ability™ System 800xA® hardware selector
