ABB NGC8209 Natural gas chromatograph

The NGC 8209, the C9+natural gas chromatograph performs on-site natural gas

analysis and heating value computation using an extended analysis.

Benefits

On-line chromatograph techniques are used to provide N2

through C6+ data while a third column train is used to

separate the C6+ fraction. The NGC 8209 utilizes the modular

and scaleable XSeries software framework to integrate data

from a third analysis train into the standard C6+ analysis of

the Natural Gas. The extra chromatographic information is

provided as NC6’s, NC7’s, NC8’s and C9+ to provide this

“extended analysis”. Heating value (CV), Wobbe, Relative

Density (SG) and other calculations are performed using the

combined analysis data in a similar manner to the NGC 8206.

Hydrocarbon Dew Point (HCDP) and Speed of Sound (SOS)

calculations are available options.

A single computer controller seamlessly processes all this

data for various outputs. It also handles the stream switching

and the timing for the sample. Incorporating a state-of-the-art

built-in 32 bit digital controller, three electronic carrier

pressure regulators, oven-mounted sensors and advanced

low-noise digital electronics, the NGC 8209 performs with

unparalleled repeatability and sensitivity. The NGC 8209

provides custody transfer/metrology quality Chromatography

for heating value and composition measurement. It provides

the user with a GC that is lower in cost, easier to install and

commission, and less costly to operate.

ABB NGC8206 Natural gas chromatograph Description

Description

The NGC8206 analyzes each sample utilizing established

chromatographic techniques. The resulting information

consists of mole percent values for the following:

• “Air” (Contains N2, Ar, CO and O2 but not CO2)

• C1 CO2 C2 C3 IC4 NC4

• NeoC5 IC5 NC5 C6+

Using process chromatographic techniques, the columns are

back flushed so that the NGC8206 measures a C6+ peak. Users

may input the results of a comprehensive lab analysis that

reflects the split or ratio of C6 through C10 components. This

ratio can be used in subsequent analysis and energy

calculations. Calculated values include:

• Gas compressibility per AGA 8

• Real Relative Density (Specific Gravity)

• Btu/CV Value

• GPM (gallons of liquid per thousand cubic feet)

• Wobbe Index

• Methane Number

• Optional calculations can include: AGA 10 speed of sound

Recommended sample conditioning

system for landfill application

This sample system is designed to bring

the low pressure landfill gas to the NGC at

an increased pressure (10-20 psig) for

injection into the analyzer.

The pressure is increased by a Di-Vac

pump. The operator can adjust the inlet

stream to an appropriate level of around

15 psig. Most of the sample stream will be

vented through the back pressure regulator.

It can be vented to atmosphere or

returned to the process stream since it is

at a higher pressure. The sample stream is

also passed through a sample

conditioning module which insures that

the NGC will be provided with dry,

uncontaminated gas for the analysis.

The NGC8203 gas chromatograph

has a special column set to analyze

the components found in low Btu

“Landfill” gas.

Measurement made easy

Overview

The NGC8203 Gas chromatograph has a special

column set to analyze the components found in low

Btu “Landfill” gas. In addition, Totalflow has

constructed a sample system that provides a

pressurized sample to the NGC from the low

pressures typically found in landfill operations.

The low Btu gas is used primarily as fuel for turbines

to produce electricity in a “cogen” operation. In some

gases the landfill gas is blended with higher Btu

components such as propane to raise the quality of the

gas and allow it to be fed into a transmission pipeline.

The components typically found in landfill gas are:

• Methane 54%

• Carbon Dioxide 42%

• Nitrogen 3.1%

• Oxygen 0.8%

• Hydrogen Sulfide less than 1200 ppm

• Carbon Monoxide (indicating under ground combustion)

Stream Composition and ranges for a valid

application for the NGC C3+ Analysis:

• Component Mol%

• Nitrogen 0.1-100

• Carbon Dioxide 0.1-100

• Methane 0.05-100

• Ethane 0.1-100

• Propane 0.05-100

• Hydrogen Sulfide 0.01-0.12

• Oxygen 0.2-20

• Carbon Monoxide 0.2 -100

and can realize the input, processing and output of various signals.

This intelligent I/O interface usually uses high-performance processors such as digital signal processors (DSP)

or programmable logic controllers (PLC), which can collect, process and control various input signals, and transmit the processed output signals to various output devices.

In industrial automation and control systems, the 129740-002 intelligent I/O interface is widely used.

It can be seamlessly integrated with other industrial automation equipment and systems to achieve control and monitoring functions.

For example, it can receive analog signals from sensors and convert them into digital signals for processing and control.

At the same time, it can also convert digital signals into analog signals to drive actuators or other devices.

In addition, the 129740-002 intelligent I/O interface also has a power regulation function to adjust the output voltage between 5V and 6V.

This power regulation function allows it to adapt to different power supply environments and needs, improving its flexibility and reliability.

It should be noted that the specific application scenarios and configurations need to be determined according to the

specific control system and device requirements.
