The ELX1058 digital input terminal allows intrinsically safe NAMUR field

devices installed in hazardous zone 0/20 and 1/21 areas to be connected

directly and acquires their signals in accordance with IEC 60947-5-6.

The sensors are supplied with a voltage of 8.2 V and return a diagnosable

current signal. A wire break or short circuit can thus be detected in addition

to the switching state. The LEDs display the signal states and any error states.

In addition to switches, incremental encoders with a NAMUR interface can

also be connected. The configuration of the signal inputs for this can be set

via software. 8 digital inputs are pre-set as standard. By choosing the appropriate

configuration, up to 2 incremental encoders can be operated simultaneously

with 2 digital input channels. You can select whether a positive or negative

switching sensor is connected for each channel for the digital inputs.

This allows NAMUR NCs and NOs to be integrated into the control system.

Potential-free contacts can also be connected.

EtherCAT Terminals from the ELX series must always be operated in conjunction

with the ELX9560 power supply terminal, which generates an electrically isolated

output voltage (24 V EX) from the input voltage (24 V DC) to supply the downstream

ELX terminals. If a repeat supply is required, an ELX9410 and an ELX9560 can

be combined so that further ELX terminals can be connected in series.

The ELX terminal segment must be terminated with one ELX9012. two ELX9410

or one EK1110. The use of two ELX9410 allows the use of EL terminals behind

ELX terminals. With the EK1110. the terminal segment can be continued via an

EtherCAT cable, for example to implement cable redundancy.
