Beckhoff The main features of the CX8200 device series

The main features of the CX8200 device series include:

• high-performance 1.2 GHz Arm® Cortex®-A53 CPUs with two cores

• 1 GB LPDDR4 RAM

• USB 3.0 interface for wireless and cellular communication

• built-in capacitive 1-second UPS

• TwinCAT NC PTP available

• platform level 20 in TwinCAT 3

The boot and storage medium is an interchangeable, industry-standard microSD

card, which can be accessed via a covered slot. This is used to store not only the

operating system, but also TwinCAT and user projects. As a result, hardware can

be replaced rapidly in the case of service, and software updates can be performed

on site by simply replacing the microSD card. Beckhoff RT Linux® is used as

operating system.

The built-in capacitive 1-second UPS ensures secure backup of persistent application

data on the microSD card, and the date and time are buffered via a maintenance-free

capacitor.

Users benefit from powerful object-oriented programming capabilities and a wide

range of software components (Functions) from the TwinCAT 3 portfolio.

They are cost-optimized for use on the CX8200 device platform. The TwinCAT

automation software turns the CX8200 system into a high-performance PLC and

motion control system. Proven features of the CX8000 series are also proviced,

such as the automatic E-bus/K-bus recognition as well as the extended operating

temperature range between -25 and +60°C for application in climatically demanding

situations.

With the CX8200 series, Beckhoff offers a compact controller that supports a wide

range of bus systems in addition to EtherCAT. The CX8210 EtherCAT slave, the

CX8280 for serial protocols, and the CX8290 for different Ethernet protocols are

available as interfaces. The fieldbus and communication system support will be

extended, e.g. PROFINET, CANopen, PROFIBUS.

Beckhoff CX82xx | Embedded PC series, compact PLC

Compact PLC with Arm® Cortex®-A53 and Beckhoff RT Linux®

The CX8200 Embedded PC series is a further development of the existing

CX8100 series and combines higher computing power in a compact format

for a wide range of automation tasks. Equipped with a faster, modern Arm®

Cortex®-A53 processor with 64 bit architecture, users benefit from a

significantly higher clock frequency of 1.2 GHz and two cores for compact

controls. The multi-core CPUs allow PLC projects to be distributed to several

cores for significantly enhanced performance.

The CX8200 Embedded PC series forms the link between the CX7000 and

CX8100 series on one hand, and the CX9240 on the other, opening up whole

new application areas and possibilities thanks to the more modern CPU and

the same low power consumption. A particular highlight of the new series is

the significantly faster 1 Gbit Ethernet interface and the expansion of the

main memory to a larger 1 GB LPDDR4 RAM, which represents double the

main memory compared to the predecessor series. What’s more, the series

also offers a USB 3.0 interface that can be used for connecting wireless and

cellular components or additional USB storage media.

Beckhoff CX8191 | Embedded PC with Arm® Cortex®-A9 and BACnet/IP

The CX8191 is a control system with a switched Ethernet port.

It supports the BACnet protocol. E-bus or K-bus terminals can

be attached as required; the CX8191 automatically recognizes

the type of I/O system connected during the start-up phase.

The control system is programmed with TwinCAT 3 via the fieldbus

interface or the additional Ethernet interface. TwinCAT 3 licenses

must be ordered via the TwinCAT 3 price list. The BACnet license

is already installed on the device and does not need to be ordered

separately.

BACnet (Building Automation Control Network) is a standardized,

manufacturer-independent communication protocol for building

automation. Areas of application include HVAC, lighting control,

safety and fire alarm technology.

In conjunction with the EL6861 BACnet-MS/TP terminals, the CX8191

can act as a router to MS/TP networks including support for several

MS/TP networks.

Further TwinCAT 3 functions and protocols are available for the CX8191.

for example OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU.

All functions and protocols can be found in the TwinCAT product finder

if you set the filter under TwinCAT 3 platform level to P20.

The CX8191 is a virtually universal device that can be used very flexibly,

from control tasks through to gateway functions.

Beckhoff CX7000 | Embedded PC with Arm® Cortex®-M7 and integrated I/Os

The CX7000 Embedded PC has an Arm® Cortex®-M7 single-core

processor with 480 MHz. In the basic configuration, the CX7000

has a slot for a microSD card and an Ethernet interface.

As a special feature, the CX7000 series has eight integrated multi

functional inputs as well as four integrated multi-functional outputs.

E-bus or K-bus terminals can be attached as required; the CX7000

automatically recognizes the type of I/O system connected during

the start-up phase. The control system is programmed with TwinCAT

3 via the Ethernet interface.

Beckhoff EKM1101 | EtherCAT Coupler with ID switch and diagnostics

The EKM1101 EtherCAT Coupler connects the ELMxxxx EtherCAT measurement modules

with EtherCAT. Such a station consists of an EKM1101 coupler, any number of EtherCAT

Terminals and a bus end cap or an EtherCAT extension such as EK1110 or EK1122.

The coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal

representation.

On account of three significant properties, the EKM1101 and the functionally identical

ELM9410 power supply terminal are designed to meet the needs of high-precision analog

measurement technology, e.g. with ELM3xxx terminals:

• To reduce interference in the connected terminal, both the E-bus supply US and the 24 V

power contact supply UP are electrically isolated and filtered in the coupler.

The power contact supply can carry a maximum load of 2 A.

• The extensive voltage and temperature monitoring provides assistance with commissioning

and operation. Results are displayed by LED and in the process image.

• The built-in three-axis position and vibration sensor allows a constant view of the mechanical

situation in the control cabinet.

As a result, the EKM1101 can be used in special measuring situations instead of the conventional

EK1100 EtherCAT Coupler. Mixed operation with EL9410 is possible, but this negates the concept

of electrical isolation. The EKM1101 has two hexadecimal ID switches for assigning an ID to a

group of EtherCAT components. This group can then be located at any position within the EtherCAT

network. Variable topologies are therefore easily implementable.

Beckhoff EK1101-0080 | EtherCAT Coupler with ID switch, Fast Hot Connect

The EK1101-0080 supports Fast Hot Connect technology. This facilitates significantly faster connection of the EtherCAT components

in applications with changing topologies. Compared to Hot Connect, which is an EtherCAT feature and enables direct coupling and

uncoupling of components during system operation, Fast Hot Connect offers even faster data transfer and allows even faster tool

changes.

The EK1101-0080 has two Fast Hot Connect ports in the form of RJ45 sockets and three hexadecimal ID switches. The Fast Hot

Connect ports are specially marked, since they may only be combined with each other. The EK1122-0080 EtherCAT junction with

Fast Hot Connect can be used to configure a star topology.

The system and field supply, each 24 V DC, is provided directly at the coupler. The attached EtherCAT Terminals are supplied with

the current required for communication from the supplied system voltage. The coupler can supply a maximum of 5 V and 2 A. If

higher current is required, power feed terminals such as the EL9410 have to be integrated. The field supply is forwarded to the

individual I/O components via the power contacts with up to 10 A.

Beckhoff EK1101-0080 EtherCAT Coupler

The EK1101-0080 EtherCAT Coupler is the link between the EtherCAT protocol at fieldbus level and the EtherCAT Terminals. The

coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation. A station consists of a coupler

and any number of EtherCAT Terminals that are automatically detected and individually displayed in the process image.

Special features:

• Connection technology: 2 x RJ45 socket

• Connection lengths: up to 100 m

• Fast Hot Connect technology for changing topologies

• Number of EtherCAT Terminals in the overall system: up to 65.535

Beckhoff EK1101-0010 | EtherCAT Coupler with ID switch, Extended Distance

The EK1101-0010 has two RJ45 sockets and three hexadecimal ID switches. The upper Ethernet interface is used to connect the

coupler to the network; the lower socket serves for the optional connection of further EtherCAT devices in the same segment. With

the Extended Distance connection, distances of up to 300 m can be reached between two Extended Distance devices. If only one

connection is configured for Extended Distance, the maximum distance between the stations is 100 m. A group of EtherCAT

components is assigned a unique ID via the hexadecimal ID switches. This group can then be located at any position within the

EtherCAT network. Variable topologies are therefore easily implementable. In addition, an EtherCAT junction or an EtherCAT

extension can be used for the extension or for setting up a line or star topology.

Beckhoff EK1101-0010 EtherCAT Coupler

The EK1101-0010 EtherCAT Coupler is the link between the EtherCAT protocol at fieldbus level and the EtherCAT Terminals. The

coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation. A station consists of a coupler

and any number of EtherCAT Terminals that are automatically detected and individually displayed in the process image.

Special features:

• Connection technology: 2 x RJ45 sockets

• Connection lengths: up to 300 m

• Three ID switches for implementing variable topologies

• Number of EtherCAT Terminals in the overall system: up to 65.535

Beckhoff EK1101-0008 | EtherCAT Coupler with ID switch and M8 connection

The EK1101-0008 has two M8 sockets. The upper Ethernet interface is used to connect the coupler to the network; the lower socket

serves for the optional connection of further EtherCAT devices in the same segment. The M8 socket is compatible with the EtherCAT

Box modules and therefore enables uniform cabling in the IP20 and IP67 range. A group of EtherCAT components can be assigned

a unique ID via the hexadecimal ID switches. This group can then be located at any position within the EtherCAT network. Variable

topologies are therefore easily implementable. In addition, an EtherCAT junction or an EtherCAT extension can be used for the

extension or for setting up a line or star topology.
