Kongsberg M3 Sonar® HF

The M3 Sonar® HF is a high-frequency multibeam sonar with both imaging and

profiling modes. It’s image resolution is double that of the original M3 Sonar.

When your mission depends on identifying small features and

targets with absolute confidence, high-frequency sonar makes all

the difference. Operating at frequencies ranging from 700 kHz for

extended range up to 1400 kHz for ultra-high resolution close-up

work, the M3 Sonar HF delivers centimeter-level feature detection

that reveals details invisible to traditional bathymetric surveys.

High-frequency operation means sharper images, clearer

target definition, and the ability to distinguish features that lower

frequencies simply miss. Whether you’re conducting infrastructure

inspections, search and recovery operations, archaeological surveys,

or detailed seafloor mapping, the superior resolution of high

frequency sonar transforms how you see the underwater world.

M3 SONAR SOFTWARE

The M3 Sonar software was developed specifically for the

M3 Sonar to manage communications with the head and

operate all beamforming and image processing.

There are four predefined operating modes:

1. Imaging: Long-range navigation with high-speed update rate.

2. Enhanced Image Quality (eIQ): Greatest image quality

(0.95° angular resolution) from a short range with a slower update rate.

3. ROV Navigation: Selects eIQ or imaging based on range.

4. Profiling: Narrow 3° beam used to generate a 3D point cloud.

Kongsberg Mesotech’s M3 Sonar is a multibeam system

MULTIMODE MULTIBEAM FOR MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS

Kongsberg Mesotech’s M3 Sonar is a multibeam system with both imaging and profiling

capabilites. The M3 Sonar provides high-resolution and easy-to-interpret images by

combining the rapid refresh rate of a conventional multibeam sonar with image quality

comparable to a single-beam sonar.

Smooth motion across the speed range. The P8000 Series stepper drives utilize a sophisticated control algorithm that optimizes the output current to the motors phases, whether full-stepping or micro-stepping, that results in smooth, quiet motion across the full speed range.

Worldwide availability and support. The P8000 Series stepper drives are backed by the world-class support and expertise of our Kollmorgen Customer Service team from the motor + drive selection and sizing to assistance in setup + troubleshooting. All drives feature CE, RoHS and REACH certifications. In addition, P80360 drives feature UL certification.

Faster Setup with Kollmorgen motors. The Motor Wizard features within Kollmorgen Space and Kollmorgen Studio allow P80360 users with Kollmorgen motors to get their machines running faster. With these features, only the initial profile velocities and acceleration times are required to get your system going. The P80630-SDN features dip-switch selectable settings for phase current, idle current reduction and step resolution (up to 1/128 microstep)—no programming required.
