The Moog Broad Reach Gimbal Control Electronics (GCE) system controls and

drives two types of dual axis redundant actuators. The system contains two

primary and two redundant motor drive outputs. These motor drive outputs

control and drive small, three phase Wye, six state, and permanent-magnet

actuators. The GCE contains two primary and redundant incremental encoder

interface circuits. The GCE communicates with the spacecraft via a dual redundant

MIL-STD-1553B bus. The spacecraft provides the 31VDC nominal voltage and

the side enable pulsed discretes. The GCE assembly consists of two identical

Controllers circuit boards, two identical Motor Driver circuit boards, two identical

DC to DC converters boards, two Backplane boards and the chassis.

The GCE implements programmable micro-stepping to reduce jitter in increments

of 1.2.4.8.16.32 or 64 micro steps/cardinal-steps. Current in all phases driven as a

sinusoid for smooth movement. Optical encoder feedback is provided but not

required to command motor movements. Positional feedback, detection of skipped

steps, and state of health (SOH) current for each motor along with 8 variable

power settings per motor are implemented.

Moog Gimbal Control Electronics (GCE)

The high-reliability Gimbal Control Electronics System controls the motion of two

or more motors, such as used in solar array actuators and antenna gimbals.

Moog Downhole Motor Controllers

Ruggedized design built to reliably operate in the most extreme environments

HIGH PERFORMANCE MOTOR CONTROLLERS

IN A COMPACT PACKAGE

Moog is a leader in motion control technology and has provided innovative

products and solutions for a wide range of industries for more than 65 years,

including 35 years serving the oil & gas industry. We meet our customers‘ needs

through ruggedized products and by delivering fast, responsive global support.

The Moog Downhole Motor Controllers are designed for high performance,

high temperature environments such as downhole drilling which demand

exceptionally narrow package diameters. The single axis controller is a closed

loop control solution for velocity and position control that complements our

Downhole Brushless Servo Motors and Servo Actuators. A low current draw in

standby mode maximizes operating time in battery powered applications.

For a complete solution, the software and graphical user interface (GUI) are

engineered to expedite the design and test of your product while providing the

flexibility to support your application specific requirements. Diagnostic data,

accessible via the RS485 serial interface, enables health/life monitoring based

on time and temperature in operation.

ADVANTAGES

• Tested with Moog downhole motors and actuators to provide a complete

motion control solution

• User friendly GUI tools:

– Data Logging & Oscilloscope up to 4 channels

– Editable Parameter Database

– Status and Fault Indication

– Function Generator

– Event Logger

Moog Main CPU 6031 CPU MODULES

Overview

MC 600 Plus is the new MC 600 CPU Series based on a

quadcore SOC technology.

Each MC 600 Series application needs exactly one main

CPU module. It is not possible to use more than one main

CPU module in an application.

The main CPU module controls all other modules of the

application. The two main CPU modules have the same

functionality, including battery backup, wake-up function

and a license key connector for advanced algorithms.

The main CPU 6033 module comes with an additional

EtherCAT device connectivity.

The main CPU 6034 module comes with an additional

ProfiNET device connectivity.

Power Supply

Each of these modules has its own internal power supply

unit (PSU) that requires a nominal +24 VDC

input to produce

the logic voltages necessary for the other modules.

The external +24 VDC

power supply for the modules must

be combined with either a CPU module or a bus transceiver

module.

All modules monitor voltage, current, and temperature

or any other data from the power supply. The main CPU

modules have a wake-up function to start-up the power

supply. The power available from the modules limits the

number of modules to be used in an application.

Additional Information

For decentralized applications, additionally bus

transceiver modules are available, see section ““Bus

Transceiver Modules”.

I/O and temperature modules are connected to each of the

CPU modules via local bus, see sections ““I/O Modules” and

“Temperature Modules”.

For possible combinations of modules and application

samples, see section “Concepts”.
