The BK1150 EtherCAT Coupler is the link between the EtherCAT protocol at fieldbus level and the Bus Terminals. The coupler

converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to the internal, fieldbus-independent terminal bus. A station consists of

a coupler and up to 64 Bus Terminals plus a bus end terminal. The process image of the EtherCAT system is assigned automatically.

Up to 255 Bus Terminals can be connected via the K-Bus extension.

Special features:

• Compact design

• Connection technology: 2 x RJ45 socket

• Connection lengths: up to 100 m

• connects the EtherCAT protocol with the Bus Terminals

Beckhoff BK1150 | EtherCAT Compact Bus Coupler

The BK1150 works in the same way as the BK1120 and complements this series with its compact design. The coupler has two RJ45

sockets. The upper Ethernet interface is used to connect the coupler to the network; the lower socket serves for the optional

connection of further EtherCAT devices in the same segment. The system and field supply, each 24 V DC, is provided directly at the

coupler. The attached Bus Terminals are supplied with the current required for communication from the supplied system voltage.

The field supply is forwarded to the individual I/O components via the power contacts with up to 10 A. The Bus Terminals are

parameterized via ADS through the KS2000 software; a KS2000 connector is not required. Alternatively, the controller (PLC, IPC) can

configure the Bus Terminals via PLC function blocks.

In the EtherCAT network, the BK1150 coupler can be installed anywhere in the Ethernet signal transfer section (100BASE-TX)

except directly at the switch. The EK9000 and EK1000 couplers are suitable for use at the switch.

Beckhoff BK1120 | EtherCAT Bus Coupler for standard Bus Terminals

The BK1120 has two RJ45 sockets. The upper Ethernet interface is used to connect the coupler to the network; the lower socket

serves for the optional connection of further EtherCAT devices in the same segment.

The system and field supply, each 24 V DC, is provided directly at the coupler. The attached Bus Terminals are supplied with the

current required for communication from the supplied system voltage. The field supply is forwarded to the individual I/O

components via the power contacts with up to 10 A. In the EtherCAT network, the BK1120 coupler can be installed anywhere in the

Ethernet signal transfer section (100BASE-TX) – except directly at the switch. The EK9000 and EK1000 couplers are suitable for use

at the switch.

Beckhoff BK1120 Special features

Beckhoff EK1960 | TwinSAFE Compact Controller

The TwinSAFE Compact Controller is programmed via the TwinCAT Safety Editor in the same way as other TwinSAFE components. A

TwinSAFE project is created and loaded over EtherCAT into the EK1960. The EK1960 supports the establishment of 128 TwinSAFE

connections. For flexible adaptation to different safety tasks, the TwinSAFE Compact Controller can be combined with the TwinSAFE

I/O components in IP20 and IP67 and the TwinSAFE Drive Option cards.

In addition to the Safety over EtherCAT protocol, the EK1960 also supports the TwinSAFE SC technology. This makes the safe

transfer of data from TwinSAFE SC terminals to the EK1960 TwinSAFE Compact Controller possible.

The EK1960 also supports the processing of analog signals (16/32 bit, signed and unsigned). These signals can be transferred to

the logic as standard, TwinSAFE SC or Safety over EtherCAT signals. Analog signals can thus be checked for plausibility within the

logic.

Certified function blocks such as ADD, SUB, MUL, DIV, and also more complex ones such as Counter, Limit or Compare are available

for the processing of analog signals.

Beckhoff EK1960 Special features

The EK1960 TwinSAFE Compact Controller extends the range of applications of the TwinSAFE integrated safety solution. The core of

the safety controller corresponds to the functionality of the EL6910 dedicated safety controller. Thanks to the compact design of

the EK1960 with 20 safe digital inputs and 24 safe digital outputs (up to 2 A), it covers in particular the safety requirements of

compact machines. The EK1960 can be operated “stand-alone” or networked with other controllers via the EtherCAT connectors. If

the coupler is operated in an EtherCAT network, it can be extended by all EL/ES terminals like any EtherCAT coupler. As a stand

alone device, it cannot be extended by terminals.

Special features:

• analog value processing

• incremental download

• diagnostic history directly on the component

• up to 128 safe connections

• up to 128 TwinSAFE groups

• up to 40 users

• TwinSAFE SC support

• Stand-alone operation (without EtherCAT connection)

• 20 safe inputs

• 24 safe outputs

• 4 optional relay outputs

• Standard outputs can be activated with integrated AND connection with a safe output signal

Beckhoff EK1914 | EtherCAT Coupler with integrated digital standard and safety I/Os

The EK1914 has safety parameters to adapt the functionality specifically to the respective safety-oriented requirements (e.g., 1

channel evaluation vs. 2-channel evaluation of the inputs, testing of the individual channels).

In addition, standard outputs can be activated for the EK1914. As a result, corresponding standard outputs are available in parallel

with and internally ANDed with the safe outputs of the EK1914. The safe output signals, which are controlled by a TwinSAFE Logic,

thus issue the safe release for the standard signals, which can then be triggered by the non-safety oriented control system

independently of the cycle of the safety controller and FSoE. This allows faster switching times of the outputs, provided that the

safety controller issues the necessary release for the output.

The safety parameters are not stored directly on the component, but are transmitted to the input terminal via a TwinSAFE Logic

capable component when the safety application is started. This simplifies service procedures, because in this case the component

can simply be replaced. The safety-relevant parameters are transferred to the new component when the safety application is

restarted.

Beckhoff EK1914 Special features

The EK1914 EtherCAT coupler combines the functionalities of the EK1100 EtherCAT coupler with standard and safe digital I/Os. This

results in a compact design that is especially suitable for applications with a low number of I/Os.

Like the EK1100. the EK1914 can be extended with all EL/ES terminals. The EK1914 has four digital inputs and four digital outputs,

as well as two fail-safe inputs and two fail-safe outputs. The safe input and output signals are exchanged with a TwinSAFE Logic

capable component via FSoE.

Special features:

• EtherCAT coupler with integrated I/Os (standard and safety)

• two safe inputs

• two safe outputs

• cross-circuit detection

• 1-channel vs. 2-channel evaluation directly on the component

• testing of the input channels can be activated individually

• Standard outputs can be activated with integrated ANDing with a safe output signal

Beckhoff EK1828-0010 | EtherCAT Coupler with integrated digital outputs

The EK1828-0010 has two RJ45 sockets. The upper Ethernet interface is used to connect the coupler to the network; the lower

socket serves for the optional connection of further EtherCAT devices in the same segment. In addition, an EtherCAT junction or an

EtherCAT extension can be used for the extension or for setting up a line or star topology.

The system and field supply, each 24 V DC, is provided directly at the coupler. The attached EtherCAT Terminals are supplied with

the current required for communication from the supplied system voltage. The coupler can supply a maximum of 5 V and 1 A. If

higher current is required, power feed terminals such as the EL9410 have to be integrated. The field supply is forwarded to the

individual I/O components via the power contacts with up to 10 A.

Beckhoff EK1828-0010 Special features

The EK1828 EtherCAT Coupler is the link between the EtherCAT protocol at fieldbus level and the EtherCAT Terminals. In addition,

eight digital outputs are integrated. The resulting design is particularly suitable for applications with a small number of I/Os. The

coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation. A station consists of a coupler

and any number of EtherCAT Terminals that are automatically detected and individually displayed in the process image.

Special features:

• Connection technology: 2 x RJ45 socket

• Connection lengths: up to 100 m

• 8 digital outputs

• Number of EtherCAT Terminals in the overall system: up to 65.535
