A quick, confident pathway to market

Our new motion control systemis highly manufacturable at scale, and the most in-demand configurations are always in stock. And with plug-and-play installation, you can more easily engineer a successful machine and bring it to market quickly.

• Curated set of frame sizes and performance specifications. System offerings ranging from 200W to 4000W with ratings optimized for 120. 240. 400 or 480 VAC operation and frame sizes between 58 to 138mm.

• Highly manufacturable at scale. The most in-demand configurations are always in stock. So you can count on assured delivery of the systems you need, in the quantities you need, with short lead times.

• Plug-and-play installation. By default, the servo system is configured to work with Kollmorgen Automation Suite, but you can switch to work with third-party control system architectures using EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP or PROFINET. The new Express Setup feature in our WorkBench software makes setup, configuration and tuning simple, even for engineers with little motion experience. And the full suite of WorkBench tools is also included for more advanced motion programming and tuning tasks.

Kollmorgen EtherCAT® Bus Coupler

The analog and multifunctional Bus Terminals can be adapted to each specific

application. Depending on the type, the analog Bus Terminals’ registers contain

temperature ranges, gain values and linearisation characteristics. The Bus

Terminals store settings permanently and in a fail-safe manner. Optionally,

the Bus Terminals can also be controlled by the control system. Via function

blocks (FBs), the programmable logic controller (PLC) handles configuration

of the complete periphery during the start up phase. If required, the controller

can upload the decentralized created configuration data in order to centrally

manage and store this data. Therefore, new adjustments are not necessary in

the event of replacement of a Bus Terminal. The controller automatically sets

the required setting on power up.

Kollmorgen Ethernet Control Automation Technology

EtherCAT (Ethernet Control Automation Technology) is the Ethernet solution for

industrial automation, characterized by outstanding performance and particularly

simple handling. EtherCAT enables the Ethernet star topology to be replaced with

a simple line structure. Optionally, EtherCAT may also be wired in the “classic”

way using switches, in order to integrate further Ethernet devices. The master

requires no special plug-in card and can be implemented on any existing Ethernet

controller using a very simple interface. EtherCAT is therefore also well suited to

small and medium control applications, where it will also open up new areas of

application for distributed I/Os.

For EtherCAT a separate I/O system in protection class IP 20 is available in the

form of EtherCAT Terminals. In contrast to Bus Terminals, where the fieldbus

signal is implemented within the Bus Coupler on the internal, fieldbus-independent

terminal bus, the EtherCAT protocol remains fully intact down to the individual terminal.

The EtherCAT Coupler supports the operation of all Bus Terminals. As far as the

user is concerned, handling of the analog inputs/outputs is not different to other

series. The information is available in the process image of the controller for

processing in the form of a byte array.

Kollmorgen EtherCAT® Bus Coupler Features

The EtherCAT® Bus Coupler connects the real-time Ethernet system

with modular, extendable electronic terminal blocks. A complete unit

consists of a bus coupler, a set of bus terminals and one end terminal.

Features

The EtherCAT Coupler connects EtherCAT, the real-time Ethernet system,

with the modular, extendable electronic terminal blocks. A unit consists

of a Bus Coupler, a set of terminals, and one end terminal.

The Bus Coupler recognises the connected Bus Terminals and automatically

allocates them into the EtherCAT process image. The Bus Coupler is

connected to the network via the upper Ethernet interface. The lower RJ 45

socket may be used to connect further EtherCAT devices in the same strand.

In the EtherCAT network, the EtherCAT Coupler can be installed anywhere in

the Ethernet signal transfer section (100BASE-TX) – except directly at the switch.V

Kollmorgen SN3/SN4 Series AC Synchronous Motors

SN3/SN4 Series AC Synchronous Motors provide high performance

in two frame sizes, NEMA 34 and 42 (90 and 110 mm).

Resistor-capacitor kits are also available. These motors are driven

economically from standard AC line voltage and the synchronous

speed is related to the line frequency.

• SN3 models: NEMA 34 (90 mm), three stack lengths with torque

ratings from 198 to 636 N-cm (280 to 900 oz-in)

• SN4 models: NEMA 42 (110 mm), three stack lengths with torque

ratings from 500 to 1059 N-cm (715 to 1500 oz-in)

• All models offer flying lead, terminal box, connector and shaft

extension options

• 72 rpm motor speed (with 60 Hz voltage)

• Constant speed does not vary with load

• 120 volt AC models

• Fast starting, stopping and reversing

• Standard connections include leaded, terminal box, MS connectors,

rear shaft

Kollmorgen Direct Drive Linear Motors

Choose Your Optimum Linear Motor Design

The IC Ironcore DDL is our most powerful, versatile model, ideal for moving

heavy loads quickly or for accommodating global applications at 230/400/480

bus voltages without the need for transformers. The ICD Ironcore Low Profile

DDL offers outstanding force density, allowing you to design the most compact,

lightweight applications. And the IL Ironless DDL offers zero-cogging performance

for applications that require very low bearing friction, high acceleration of lighter

loads and smooth operation even at ultra-low speeds.

Features

•Ideal for accelerating and moving low to very high masses — greatest rated thrust

force per size

•Suitable for global markets — 230/400/480 VAC bus voltage for IC Ironcore DDL

•Very smooth velocity with high positional accuracy — zero backlash or compliance,

maintaining the stiffness required for machining and other process forces

•Zero maintenance — eliminates lubrication and wear of ball screws, gearboxes,

rack and pinions, or belts and pulleys

•Simple, compact mechanical assembly — high force density in a minimal form factor

with a greatly reduced total parts countKollmorgen Direct Drive Linear Motors

Kollmorgen DDL motors drive

DDL motors drive linear loads directly, eliminating the need for couplings,

belts, ball/lead screws, rack & pinion gears or other backlash-prone,

maintenance-intensive transmission components. Using direct drive linear

motors, your machine can be simpler to design, faster and more precise

in operation, quieter and more reliable — without the need for complicated

parts that require constant lubrication and eventually wear out.

Pair your DDL motor with an AKD or AKD2G servo drive for industry-leading

power density, flexible communication options and optional functional

safety capabilities.

A Direct Drive Linear Motor for Every Application

Kollmorgen DDL motors offer the broadest selection of input power and force

density to meet your specific application requirements. The IC Ironcore DDL

series handles medium and high-voltage applications requiring peak force up

to 13.448 N. The ICD Ironcore Low Profile DDL is ideal for use in compact

applications. And the IL Ironless DDL offers zero cogging and exceptionally

light mass.
