CTI 2597 32-Point Mode: 4 Common Configuration

32-Point Mode: 4 Common Configuration

The user may configure the module to allow four channels to be grouped and share a common field user

power, thereby allowing a different user power supply voltage to be used by each grouping. Jumpers J2.

J4. J5. and J6 are used to configure this selection.

For example, if the user places the J2 jumper in the 4 Common position, Channels 1-4 will share a

common user power and Channels 5-8 will share another common user power. In this example each

group of four channels is isolated from the other group of four channels. Because each group of four is

isolated, the user may also change the supply voltage for each group. So, in this example, Channels 1-4

could be 24VDC outputs and Channels 5-8 could be 60VDC outputs. Furthermore, the user may select a

different configuration for J4. J5. or J6. allowing for further combinations of four or eight channels that

share a common.

CTI 2597 8/16/32-Point DC Discrete Output Module

Description

The 2597 8/16/32-Point DC Discrete Output

Module provides eight, sixteen, or thirty-two

sourcing fused outputs from the CTI 2500

Series or Simatic® 505 I/O base. The module

utilizes solid-state output circuits to switch on

or off external devices such as pilot lamps,

motor starters, or solenoids. The 2597 is

designed to switch externally supplied 11-125

VDC. The internal logic signals are isolated

from the external outputs to 2100 VDC.

Features

• 8. 16. or 32 DC output points

• Replaces Siemens®  505-4508. -4516. -4532.

-4708. -4716. -4732

• 3000 VDC group-to-group isolation

• 2100 VDC channel-to-backplane isolation

• Isolation in groups of 4 or 8 (selectable with

32 pt login configuration

• Wide 11-125 VDC output range

• 2A per output, 8A per user power input

• 32 Amps total module output

• Individually sourcing fused outputs

CTI 2596-8 Login 8/16 Point Configuration Explanation

Login 8/16 Point Configuration Explanation

The 2596-8 was designed using a PCB that could also perform as a 16 or 32pt module.

Hence, the PCB printing for channels do not line up with actual 2596-8 channels.

See the chart below for the proper correlation of channels.

For example, if the module reported channel 4 was blown, then the user would replace

the fuse marked ‘CH10’ on the PCB.

Grouping Configuration

The 2596-8. two channles are grouped together

and share a common field user power, thereby

allowing a different user power supply voltage to

be used by each grouping. Jumpers J2. J4. J5.

and J6 are set in the “8 Common” selection from

the factory and, for proper module operation,

should not be altered. This setting allows for 2

points per common operation.

For example, Channels 1-2 will share a common

user power and Channels 3-4 will share another

common user power. In this example each group

of four channels is isolated from the other group

of four channels. Because each group of four is

isolated, the user may also change the supply

voltage for each group. So, in this example,

Channels 1-2 could be 24VDC outputs and

Channels 3-4 could be 60VDC outputs.

CTI 2596-8 8 Point DC Discrete Output Module

Description

The 2596-8 8 Point DC Discrete Output Module

provides eight sourcing fused outputs from the CTI

2500 Series® or Simatic® 505 I/O base. The module

CTI The 2595 may operate as a 16 Bit Word Output Module

Word and Discrete Mode

The 2595 may operate as a 16 Bit Word Output Module or as a 16

Discrete Output Module. By setting JP1 in Word Mode and using Work

shop to configure I/O the 2585 will look like a standard WX input mod

ule; for example WY1-WY8.

NOTE: The 2595 will be mapped as the first WY address (i.e. WY1). In

Word Mode Channel 1 corresponds to bit 16 or LSB and Channel 16

corresponds to Bit 1 or MSB.

In the example Figure 2. the 16-point TTL output module is inserted in

slot 1 in I/O base 0 and configured as a DISCRETE Output module

using JP1. In the example below  data appears as 16 “Y” locations start

ing at “Y1”. For your particular module, look in the chart for the num

ber corresponding to the slot occupied by the module. If bit locations

appear on this line, then the module is registered in the PLC memory

and the module is ready for operation.
