Foxboro Standard 200 Series I/O modules

Standard 200 Series I/O modules provide electrical and

data interfaces to a wide variety of industrial devices

and systems. Their rugged design permits installation in

harsh environments and allows the plant engineer to

reduce field wiring and installation costs. The modules’

high accuracy enables tight control for better process

quality.

OVERVIEW

The standard 200 Series subsystem innovative

equipment packaging, together with the integrated

use of Fast Ethernet networks with fiber optic cable

for communication between equipment domains,

permits local or remote distribution of your process

I/O points.

The standard 200 Series subsystem consists of a full

line of high performance Fieldbus Modules (FBMs),

along with the following integrally designed elements:

 Field Control Processor 280 (FCP280) and Field

Control Processor 270 (FCP270) – Similar in size

to the FBMs, this compact control processor

provides a control interface between the FBMs

and the Foxboro Evo Control network (hereinafter

referred to as the control network) and allows you

to locate the control processor in strategic plant

areas.

 Z-Module Control Processor 270 (ZCP270) – In

the Z-module form factor for use with 100 Series

FBM racks, this compact control processor

provides control operations for the FBMs and

allows you to locate the control processor in

strategic plant areas.

 Fieldbus Communications Modules (FCMs) –

Similar in size to the FBMs, these compact

modules provide a communication interface

between the FBMs and the ZCP270 via the

control network.

 FBI200 Fieldbus Isolator/Filter – Similar in size to

the FBMs, these compact, optional modules,

among other functions, extend the 268 kbps

Module Fieldbus between FCP280s/FCP270s

and 100 Series FBMs up to 1830 m (6000 ft)

over twinaxial cable.

 Standard Baseplates – These provide a

communications backplane and a solid base for

mounting the CPs, FBMs, and FCMs, allowing for

a variety of remote equipment mounting

configurations.

 Intrinsically Safe Baseplates (ISTA-BPs) –

Compatible with standard 200 Series baseplates,

the ISTA-BPs were co-developed with Pepperl

and Fuchs and provide an Intrinsically Safe

solution for 200 Series FBM applications.

 Enclosures – Several basic types provide various

levels of environmental protection and equipment

grouping for the 200 Series equipment.

The 200 Series FBMs provide full support for analog

measurement, digital sensing, and analog or discrete

control capabilities. The FBMs are rugged, high

performance distributed process I/O modules

designed for all process control tasks. Operating in

conjunction with the Foxboro Evo control processor

(FCP280. FCP270. or ZCP270), these FBMs provide

for process management and control of continuous,

batch and discrete control schemes.

The FCP270 flattens and simplifies the Foxboro Evo Process Automation System

REMOTE MOUNTING

The FCP270 flattens and simplifies the Foxboro Evo

Process Automation System architecture, which only

requires field enclosures plus workstations and

Ethernet switches. For more information on The

Foxboro Evo control network architecture, refer to

PSS 21H-7C2 B3.

The field-mounted FCP270 is an integral part of the

highly-distributed control network where controllers

are closely aligned to specific process units mounted

in close proximity to their I/O and the actual

equipment being controlled. Coordination between

process units takes place via a fiber optic 100 Mbps

Ethernet network.

The FCP270 is packaged in a rugged, die cast

aluminum housing that does not require venting due

to its efficient design. The FCP270 is CE certified,

and it can be mounted without expensive special

cabinets to prevent electronic emissions. The

FCP270 can be mounted in Class G3 harsh environments.

Foxboro Field Control Processor 270

The Field Control Processor 270 is a distributed, optionally

fault-tolerant, field-mounted controller that performs process

control and alarming functions according to a user-defined

control strategy.

OVERVIEW

The Field Control Processor 270 (FCP270) is a

distributed, optionally fault-tolerant, field-mounted

controller module. The FCP270 performs regulatory,

logic, timing, and sequential control together with

connected Fieldbus Modules. It also performs data

acquisition and alarm detection and notification.

The FCP270 connects to the Foxboro Evo control

network via standard fiber optic 100 Mbps Ethernet.

The fault-tolerant version of the FCP270 consists of

two processor modules. These modules install in

adjacent FCP270 slots in a supported FCP270

baseplate for high speed communication between

the modules (see Figure 1).

The FCP270 is packaged in a rugged, die cast

aluminum housing that does not require venting due

to its efficient design. The FCP270 is CE certified,

and it can be mounted without expensive special

cabinets to prevent electronic emissions. The

FCP270 can be mounted in Class G3 harsh environments.

Johnson Controls DIS1710 Local Controller Display is a stand-alone display module

Applications

The DIS1710 Local Controller Display is a stand-alone display module designed

for installation on the front panel of an enclosure. The DIS1710 display can

connect to the Network Control Engine (NCE), Field Equipment Controller (FEC),

or Advanced Application Field Equipment (FAC) models that do not have integral

displays. The display provides a local user interface for the application running in

the controller. Use the Controller Configuration Tool (CCT) tool to configure the display.

Installation

• Transport the display in the original container to minimize vibration and shock damage

to the unit.

• Verify that all parts were shipped with the display.

• Do not drop the display or subject it to physical shock.

Models are available with or without an LCD.

Depending on the sensor model, the WRZSeries Sensor can transmit sensed temperature,

setpoint temperature, sensed humidity, occupancy status, and low battery conditions to

an associated router or receiver. The WRZ Series Sensors are designed for indoor, intra-building

applications only.

The WRZ Series Sensors use direct-sequence, spread-spectrum RF technology, and operate on

the 2.4 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band.

The receiver meets the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for low-power, low-duty cycle RF transmitting

systems.

Local Controller Display Operation Overview

The Local Controller Display uses a fixed set of display pages to organize the

objects and data defined in the controller. Use the keypad to log on to the device

and navigate between and within each page. See Local Controller Display Keypad

for navigation information. You cannot change the order of the pages, but you can

change the contents of the pages when you configure the display with CCT.

Description of Local Controller Display

The pages that you access from the display’s Main Menu share a common layout

and theme. For example, all pages have a page title and a scroll bar used to

navigate the page. In addition, all pages support four lines of text.

If a text field shown on the Local Controller Display exceeds 20 characters, the

text scrolls across the screen once and then remains left justified with trailing

ellipses to indicate the entire text is not showing. For example, Floor1 Zone

Temperature may be shortened as Floor1 Zone Temper…. Text characters not

supported by any available character are displayed as asterisks.

Text is also shortened if the data field for the object exceeds the total allocated

width. For example, if the value of an object is 12345.67. the displayed value may

be shortened to 12345 (depending on its initial length).

Local Controller Display Configuration

FX-PC controllers with a local display, or controllers with the remote stand-alone

display, are configured with CCT. The CCT provides a Configure Display menu

option that allows you to:

• define which points appear on the display pages (Input/Output View,

Parameter/Setpoint View, and Idle View) and in which order

• define which points are read-only (cannot be commanded using the display)

• specify point names and descriptions

• set display attributes including contrast and backlight intensity

• select timeout settings

• select authorization, including password definition

These options are available in CCT through the Configure Display option found in

the Tools menu while in Configuration mode. 

Pages on the Local Controller Display:

• share a common method of row selection

• use a common method of entering data within an editable field

• show a scroll bar to indicate the scrolling feature is enabled

• support scrolling of rows and data that span multiple screens

• share a common method of wrapping row selection when the endpoints of the

rows in a list have been reached

• update their values every 5 seconds (Present Value and Reliability attributes) or

120 seconds (all other attributes)

Johnson Controls WRZ Series Wireless Room Sensors

Description

The WRZ Series Wireless Room Sensors are designed to sense room or zone temperature

and transmit wireless temperature control data. Some models also sense and transmit

relative humidity (RH).

Several models include an onboard passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensor that detects

motion to determine if a space is occupied.

This feature maximizes up to 30% energy savings in high-energy usage environments

such as schools, dormitories, offices, and hospitals by adjusting the temperature of the

space based on the occupancy status. In addition, the PIR occupancy sensor facilitates

trending of floor space usage in these environments.

In a ZFR1800 Series Wireless Field Bus System application, the sensors communicate

with FAC26 Series, FEC16 Series, FEC26 Series, and VMA16 Series Controllers by

means of the ZFR18xx Series Router.

In wired field bus applications, the sensors communicate with a WRZ-7860 Wireless

Receiver. The WRZ-7860 Receiver transfers data to the controller by means of the Sensor

Actuator (SA) communication bus. In a typical application, one WRZ Series Sensor reports

to one WRZ-7860 Receiver, but up to five WRZSeries Sensors can be associated with a

single WRZ-7860 Receiver for multi-sensor averaging or high/low temperature selection.

The WRZ Series Wireless Room Sensors include models with either a temperature

setpoint dial or the setpoint adjustment pushbuttons and LCD that allows occupants

to view the zone temperature, Relative Humidity (RH), and view and adjust the zone

temperature setpoint. Some temperature and humidity models include a %RH pushbutton

to toggle between temperature and RH on the display. These models also have the capability

to set the desired default display to either temperature or RH. Some models also include

a °F/°C button, which provides a choice between degrees Fahrenheit (F) and degrees

Celsius (C).
