GE The C30 provides advanced communications technologies

Communications

The C30 provides advanced communications

technologies for remote data and engineering

access, making it easy and flexible to use and

integrate into new and existing infrastructures.

Direct support for fiber optic Ethernet provides

high-bandwidth communications allowing

for low-latency controls and high-speed

file transfers of relay fault and event record

information.

The available three independent

Ethernet ports, redundant Ethernet option

and the embedded managed Ethernet switch

provide the means to create fault tolerant

communication architectures in an easy,

cost-effective manner without the need for

intermediary communication hardware.

The C30 supports the most popular industry

standard protocols enabling easy, direct

integration into DCS and SCADA systems.

• IEC 61850 Ed. 2 with 61850-9-2 support

• DNP 3.0 (serial & TCP/IP)

• Ethernet Global Data (EGD)

• IEC 60870-5-103 and IEC 60870-5-104

• Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP

• HTTP, TFTP, SFTP and MMS file transfer

• SNTP and IEEE 1588 for time synchronization

• PRP as per IEC 62439-3

Multilin™ C30 Role Based Access Control (RBAC)

Cyber Security –

CyberSentry UR

CyberSentry UR enabled UR devices deliver full

cyber security features that help customers to

comply with NERC CIP and NIST® IR 7628 cyber

security requirements.

wThis software option delivers the following core features:

AAA Server Support (Radius/LDAP)

Enables integration with centrally managed

authentication and accounting of all user

activities and uses modern industry best

practices and standards that meet and exceed

NERC CIP requirements for authentication and

password management.

Role Based Access Control (RBAC)

Efficiently administrate users and roles within

UR devices. The new and advanced access

functions allow users to configure up to five

roles for up to eight configurable users with

independent passwords. The standard “Remote

Authentication Dial In User Service” (Radius) is

used for authentication.

Event Recorder (Syslog for SEM)

Capture all cyber security related events within

a SOE element (login, logout, invalid password

attempts, remote/local access, user in session,

settings change, FW update, etc), and then

serve and classify data by security level using

standard Syslog data format. This will enable

integration with established SEM (Security Event

Management) systems.

GE The C30 performs comprehensive device health diagnostic

Monitoring and Metering

The C30 provides high resolution measuring

of the status of external devices wired to its

contact inputs. The changing of a contact input

status can be measured

and time-stamped with a 0.5ms resolution,

making the C30 ideal for bay or substation SOE

recording.

Fault and Disturbance Recording

The advanced disturbance and event recording

features within the C30 can significantly reduce

the time needed for postmortem analysis

of power system events and the creation of

regulatory reports.

Advanced Device Health Diagnostics

The C30 performs comprehensive device health

diagnostic tests at startup and continuously

during run-time to test its own major functions

and critical hardware. These diagnostic tests

monitor for conditions that could impact security

and availability of protection, and present device

status via SCADA communications and front

panel display. Providing continuous monitoring

and early detection of possible issues help

improve system uptime.

GE The C30 incorporates advanced automation features

Monitoring & Metering

• Advanced recording capabilities with highcapacity

event recorder, configurable and

extended waveform capture and data logger

• Metering: current, voltage, power, energy,

frequency, and harmonics

Protection and Control

As part of the UR family of Protection & Control

devices, the Multilin C30 offers a high degree

of modularity in its design and functionality,

providing superior performance while meeting

the toughest requirements of the marketplace.

Control, automation, I/O expansion and data

gathering are ideally suited for the C30 in the

following applications:

• Bay control

• Substation automation

• Remote I/O

Advanced Automation

The C30 incorporates advanced automation

features including powerful FlexLogic™

programmable logic, peer- to-peer

communications and SCADA capabilities that

far surpass what is found in the average PLC or

controller. The C30 integrates seamlessly with

other UR relays to extend the I/O capabilities and

perform complete bay management and control.

FOXBORO The FBM is a general purpose Ethernet hardware module

I/O Driver

The FBM is a general purpose Ethernet hardware module that can be loaded with different software

drivers.

These drivers configure the FBM to recognise the specific protocol used by the device.

Some of these software drivers are standard products. Other custom drivers can be developed to meet

specific needs.

These drivers are dynamically downloaded to the FBM233 with software code

specifically designed to interface with the protocols of third party devices.

The configuration steps and software requirements for each driver are specific to the device integrated

into the system.

Ethernet Link Setup

Data communication between the FBM233 and field devices takes place via the RJ-45 interface on the

front of the FBM233 module.

The RJ-45 connector of the FBM233 can be connected to the field device via a hub or an Ethernet switch.

The FBM233 connects to an Ethernet switch or hub to communicate with one external device or up to 64

external devices.

FOXBORO Key features of the FBM233 include

Functional Features

Key features of the FBM233 include

– Redundant 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps Ethernet network transfer rates to and from field devices

– Communication with up to 64 field devices

– Downloadable I/O software drivers from available protocol libraries

– Up to 2000 DCI block connections

– Integration of field device data into the Foxboro DCS control database using an Ethernet connection

– Field Installation

– G3 rated (harsh) environments.

Configurator

The FDSI Configurator sets up the FBM233 ports and XML-based device profiles.

The Port Configurator makes it easy to set communication parameters

(e.g., Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), IP address) for each port.

The Device Configurator is not required for all devices, but when it is,

it can configure device-specific and point-specific considerations

(e.g., scan rate, address to which data is to be transferred,

and amount of data to be transferred in a single transaction).
