The safety-relevant data are exchanged via FSoE with a TwinSAFE

Logic-capable component.With the help of the locally available

inputs and outputs, a complete safety application can thus be realized

directly on the terminal. The range of functions corresponds to that of

the EL6910. The only difference at this point is the limitation of the

number of possible safe connections to 128. Apart from that, all the

advantages of the new generation of safety controllers can be used

(see EL6910 customizing, incremental download, analog value

processing, etc.).

The EL2911 TwinSAFE component is a potential supply terminal

and enables the setup of TwinSAFE groups with a safe power

supply (24 V DC, up to 10 A). If the TwinSAFE terminal detects

an error, it switches to the safe state (fail-safe).

Safe potential groups can be created within a terminal segment

using the EL2911. Thus, interference-free standard terminals

can be safely switched off and integrated into the safety application.

In addition, the EL2911 has four safe inputs.

The safety-relevant data are exchanged via FSoE with a TwinSAFE

Logic-capable component.

The safety parameters are not stored directly on the component,

but are transmitted to the input terminal via a TwinSAFE Logic

capable component when the safety application is started.

This simplifies service procedures, because in this case the component

can simply be replaced. The safety-relevant parameters are transferred

to the new component when the safety application is restarted.

The EL2904 TwinSAFE component is a digital output terminal with

four channels. It switches 24 V DC actuators with up to 0.5 A per

channel and has four fail-safe outputs. The outputs are controlled

by a TwinSAFE Logic-capable component via FSoE.

The component automatically switches off if it detects an error

(fail-stop).

The EL2904 has safety parameters to specifically adapt the

functionality to the respective safety requirements.

For example, a current measurement at the outputs and a test of

the outputs can be configured in order to be able to detect cross

-circuits among other things and to react appropriately.

In addition, standard outputs can be activated for the EL2904.

As a result, corresponding standard outputs are available in the

process image in parallel and internally ANDed with the safe

outputs of the EL2904. The safe output signals, which are controlled

by a TwinSAFE Logic, thus issue the safe release for the standard

signals, which can be triggered by the non-safety oriented control

system independently of the cycle of the safety controller and FSoE.

This allows faster switching times of the outputs, provided that

the safety controller issues the necessary release for the output.

The safety parameters are not stored directly on the component,

but are transmitted to the component via a TwinSAFE Logic capable

component when the safety application is started.

This simplifies service procedures, because the component can simply

be replaced. The safety-relevant parameters are transferred to the new

component when the safety application is restarted.

The ED2887 digital output terminal connects the binary 24 V DC

control signals from the automation device on to the actuators at

the process level with electrical isolation.

The EtherCAT Terminal has 32 channels that indicate their signal

state via light emitting diodes (status LEDs).

The power contacts are looped through internally.

In the ED2887 the outputs are supplied via the 0 V DC power

contact. The connection technology is optimized for single-ended

signals (common reference point). To ensure error-free operation,

all connected components must use the same reference as the

ED2887 Terminal.

Special features:

• resistive loads (e.g., resistors)

• inductive loads (e.g., relays, contactors, valves)

• capacitive loads

• max. output current of 0.5 A per channel (∑ 10 A)

voltage

The ED series EtherCAT Terminals have push-in connection technology

which makes wiring easy and tool-free.

The EL2489 digital output terminal connects the binary 24 V DC control

signals from the automation device on to the actuators at the process

level with electrical isolation. The EtherCAT Terminal has 16 channels,

whose signal states are indicated by LEDs.

The connection technology is particularly suitable for single-ended inputs.

All components have to use the same reference point as the EL248.

The power contacts are connected through. In the EL2489 the outputs

are supplied via the 0 V DC power contact.

The terminal also monitors the supply voltage and reports the status

via process image and LED.
