In-drive PLC

With a cycle time of 100 µs for 1.000 lines of STL, the

b maXX-drivePLC is suitable for both compre hensive control

and demanding motion control tasks. Through the use of our

drivePLC, the PLC can be assisted, down-sized or even

completely replaced. A new transparency and clarity is also

created in the application via the clean decoupling of motion

control applications from the machine program. The drivePLC

can be integrated into the b maXX 4400 servo controller series

and enables the uncomplicated creation of control technology

programs with ProMaster or PROPROG.

A CANopen master is included with the CAN option module for

b maXX-drivePLC. This enables up to 65.536 digital I/O points

to be switched. With the existing EtherCAT master challenging

and highly synchronized movement processes are controlled

directly on the b maXX-drivePLC. The extensive product range

includes decentralized analog and digital I/O modules.

The program memory of the b maXX-drivePLC is sufficient for

typical 120.000 lines of IL. 2 MB of RAM are available for variables.

The optional residual data memory of 100 KB is buffered battery-free

with a NVRAM. This means there is enough memory available for

sufficient code. Costly memory expansions can be dispensed with.

The battery-free NVRAM means that data is available maintenance

free and after every time the system is switched off and on without

any data loss.

Storage module

The parameter storage module contains all the parameters

that are set on the drive controller of the b maXX for all 8

parameter data records and all 16 positioning profiles.

New parameters can be loaded to the drive controller

simply by plugging in the module.

Given that the parameter module is pluggable, a drive can

be replaced during servicing without the need for any

knowledge of the operating software.

Servicing could not be easier.

With more than 30 different function and option

modules b maXX can easily be adapted in line with

the individual tasks of the automation and drive

solution.

The individual modules are designed as plug-in

boards and therefore the drive controller no longer

has to be ordered as a preassembled unit. By using

various plug-in boards, the machine manufacturer

can secure a wide variety of functions and configure

the appropriate combinations on their own. In this

way, he can react quickly and flexibly to new

requirements.

This system also ensures that the drive can be

quickly expanded at the user‘s facility. Production

adjustments can be implemented within a short

space of time and with minimal effort.

BAUMULLER b maXX 5600/5700 The application specific servo drive

The established automation and drive solution

b maXX was expanded with the new peak load and

nominal load devices of the 5600 and 5700 series.

The units complete the b maXX series and are

available in five sizes. Therewith, Baumüller meets

the requirements of industry-specific applications

such as in the field of injection moulding or extru

sion processes, because here either short-term

peak power or permanent maximum power in

constant operation are in demand. The drive can

optimally be matched to the power demands of

the respective application.

Even though the series is equipped with greater

power rating it is available in smaller sizes and mini-

mizes the required space in the control cabinet –

hence the user benefits twice.

BAUMULLER b maXX 5000 The safe, modular servo controller

Baumüller sets standards with the servo controller

generation b maXX 5000. The further development

of the successful b maXX series towards modular

systems convinces with high-performance power

units in air-cooled, water-cooled and cold plate

cooling versions and with flexible expandability

and the accessibility to an integrated communica

tion concept. Standardized as well as complex

automation solutions can be implemented with

Baumüller’s converters and controllers within a

power range between 1 and 215 kW.

The machine and installation requirements with

regard to future reliability, flexible expansion

possibilities and a simple adjustment to changed

production processes were already considered

during the preliminary development process stages

of the b maXX 5000.

Kollmorgen EtherCAT® Bus Coupler

The analog and multifunctional Bus Terminals can be adapted to each specific

application. Depending on the type, the analog Bus Terminals’ registers contain

temperature ranges, gain values and linearisation characteristics. The Bus

Terminals store settings permanently and in a fail-safe manner. Optionally,

the Bus Terminals can also be controlled by the control system. Via function

blocks (FBs), the programmable logic controller (PLC) handles configuration

of the complete periphery during the start up phase. If required, the controller

can upload the decentralized created configuration data in order to centrally 

manage and store this data. Therefore, new adjustments are not necessary in

the event of replacement of a Bus Terminal. The controller automatically sets

the required setting on power up.

Kollmorgen Ethernet Control Automation Technology

EtherCAT (Ethernet Control Automation Technology) is the Ethernet solution for

industrial automation, characterized by outstanding performance and particularly

simple handling. EtherCAT enables the Ethernet star topology to be replaced with

a simple line structure. Optionally, EtherCAT may also be wired in the “classic”

way using switches, in order to integrate further Ethernet devices. The master

requires no special plug-in card and can be implemented on any existing Ethernet

controller using a very simple interface. EtherCAT is therefore also well suited to

small and medium control applications, where it will also open up new areas of

application for distributed I/Os.

For EtherCAT a separate I/O system in protection class IP 20 is available in the 

form of EtherCAT Terminals. In contrast to Bus Terminals, where the fieldbus

signal is implemented within the Bus Coupler on the internal, fieldbus-independent

terminal bus, the EtherCAT protocol remains fully intact down to the individual terminal.

The EtherCAT Coupler supports the operation of all Bus Terminals. As far as the

user is concerned, handling of the analog inputs/outputs is not different to other

series. The information is available in the process image of the controller for

processing in the form of a byte array.

Kollmorgen EtherCAT® Bus Coupler Features

The EtherCAT® Bus Coupler connects the real-time Ethernet system

with modular, extendable electronic terminal blocks. A complete unit

consists of a bus coupler, a set of bus terminals and one end terminal.

The Bus Coupler recognises the connected Bus Terminals and automatically

allocates them into the EtherCAT process image. The Bus Coupler is

connected to the network via the upper Ethernet interface. The lower RJ 45

socket may be used to connect further EtherCAT devices in the same strand.

In the EtherCAT network, the EtherCAT Coupler can be installed anywhere in

the Ethernet signal transfer section (100BASE-TX) – except directly at the switch.V

LENZE i950 cabinet servo inverter

The intelligent i950 cabinet servo inverter can be easily integrated into

modular machine solutions on the basis of prepared technology applications

– parameterization instead of programming.

The same architecture, the same engineering and the use of the same

application software, based on decades of application experience, dissolve

the boundaries between centralized and decentralized motion control.

Our FAST Application Software Toolbox becomes universally usable.

If required, the pre-designed software modules can be very easily

customized and extended.

In addition, the i950 cabinet servo inverter serves as a power extension

of the i750 cabinet servo inverter in the Lenze automation system in the

range from 22 to 110 kW.

The requirements of the Ecodesign Directive, Standard EN IEC 61800-9-2.

are met.
