Beckhoff EK1501-0010 Special features

The EK1501-0010 EtherCAT Coupler with single-mode fiber-optic connection is

the link between the EtherCAT protocol at fieldbus level and the EtherCAT

Terminals. The coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet

100BASE-FX to E-bus signal

representation. A station consists of a coupler and any number of EtherCAT

Terminals that are automatically detected and individually displayed in the

process image.

Special features:

• connection technology 2 x single-mode fiber-optic connection via SC duplex

• connection lengths up to 20 km

• 3 ID switches for implementing variable topologies

• number of EtherCAT Terminals in the overall system: up to 65.535

Beckhoff EK1501 | EtherCAT Coupler with ID switch, multi-mode fiber optic

The EK1501 has two SC duplex sockets and three hexadecimal ID switches.

The coupler is connected to the network via the upper Ethernet connection.

The lower SC duplex socket may be used to connect further EtherCAT devices

in the same segment. The multimode glass fiber connection enables distances

of up to 2 km between two couplers. A group of EtherCAT components can be

assigned a unique ID via the hexadecimal ID switches. This group can then be

located at any position within the EtherCAT network.

Variable topologies are therefore easily implementable. In addition, an EtherCAT

junction or an EtherCAT extension can be used for the extension or for setting

up a line or star topology.

The system and field supply, each 24 V DC, is provided directly at the coupler.

The attached EtherCAT Terminals are supplied with the current required for

communication from the supplied system voltage. The coupler can supply a

maximum of 5 V and 2 A.

Power feed terminals (e.g. EL9410) must be integrated if more current is required.

The field supply is forwarded to the individual I/O components via the power

contacts with up to 10 A.

Beckhoff EK1501 Special features

The EK1501 EtherCAT Coupler with multi-mode fiber-optic connection is the

link between the EtherCAT protocol at fieldbus level and the EtherCAT

Terminals. The coupler converts the passing telegrams from Ethernet

100BASE-FX to E-bus signal representation.

A station consists of a coupler and any number of EtherCAT Terminals

that are automatically detected and individually displayed in the process

image.

Special features:

• connection lengths up to 2 km

• 3 ID switches for implementing variable topologies

• number of EtherCAT Terminals in the overall system: up to 65.535

Beckhoff EK1300 | EtherCAT P coupler

The EK1300 EtherCAT P coupler integrates the EtherCAT Terminals

into the EtherCAT P network. The coupler converts the passing

telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation.

A station consists of a coupler and any number of EtherCAT

Terminals that are automatically detected and individually displayed

in the process image

Special features:

• connection technology: 2 x P-coded M8 sockets

• power supply via EtherCAT P connection

• number of EtherCAT Terminals in the overall system: up to 65.535

The EK1300 has two P-coded M8 connections. The upper EtherCAT P

interface is used to connect the coupler to the network, the lower

P-coded M8 socket is used for optional continuation of the EtherCAT

P topology. In addition, the EK1322 EtherCAT P junction or the EK1310

EtherCAT P extension can be used for extending or creating a line or

star topology.

Since EtherCAT P integrates the power supply and the communication

on a single line, an additional power supply for the coupler via the

terminal points is no longer required. Depending on the application,

the system and sensor supply US or the peripheral voltage for actuators

UP can be bridged to the power contacts.

Beckhoff EK1122-0080 supports Fast Hot Connect technology

The EK1122-0080 supports Fast Hot Connect technology, which

facilitates significantly shorter connection times for EtherCAT

components with changing topologies. Compared to Hot Connect,

which is an EtherCAT feature and enables direct coupling and uncoupling

of components during system operation, Fast Hot Connect offers even

faster data transfer and allows even faster tool changes.

The EK1122-0080 has two Fast Hot Connect ports, which are implemented

as RJ45 sockets. The Fast Hot Connect ports are specially marked,

since they may only be combined with each other. The EK1122-0080

EtherCAT junction with Fast Hot Connect is complemented by the

EK1101-0080 EtherCAT coupler with Fast Hot Connect.

Beckhoff EK1122-0080 | 2-port EtherCAT junction, Fast Hot Connect

The EK1122-0080 2-port EtherCAT junction can be used in an EtherCAT

Terminal segment at any desired position between the EtherCAT

Terminals and enables configuration of EtherCAT star topologies.

A modular EtherCAT star hub can be realized by using several

EK1122-0080 units in a station.

Special features:

• Connection technology: 2 x RJ45 sockets

• Connection lengths: up to 100 m

• Can be used for configuring an EtherCAT star topology

• Fast Hot Connect technology for changing topologies

Beckhoff EK1122-0008 | 2-port EtherCAT junction with M8 connection

The EK1122-0008 2-port EtherCAT junction can be used in an

EtherCAT Terminal segment at any desired position between the

EtherCAT Terminals and enables configuration of EtherCAT star

topologies. A modular EtherCAT star hub can be realized by using

several EK1122-0008 units in a station.

Special features:

• connection technology: 2 x M8 sockets

• connection lengths: up to 100 m

• can be used for configuring an EtherCAT star topology

The EK1122-0008 has two M8 sockets, which enable connection

of an Ethernet cable with M8 connector and establish a connection

to a further EtherCAT segment or to individual EtherCAT devices.

The M8 sockets are compatible with the EtherCAT Box modules

and therefore enables uniform cabling in the IP20 and IP67 range.

The EK1122-0008 supports coupling and uncoupling of EtherCAT

segments during operation (Hot Connect).

Beckhoff EK1121-0010 | 1-port EtherCAT junction, Extended Distance

The EK1121-0010 1-port EtherCAT junction can be used in an EtherCAT

Terminal segment at any desired position between the EtherCAT Terminals

and enables configuration of EtherCAT star topologies. A modular EtherCAT

star hub can be realized by using several EK1121-0010 units in a station.

Special features:

• Connection technology: 1 x RJ45 socket

• Connection lengths: up to 300 m

• Can be used for configuring an EtherCAT star topology

The EK1121-0010 has an RJ45 socket that enables connection of an Ethernet

cable with RJ45 connector and establishes a

connection to a further EtherCAT segment or to individual EtherCAT devices.

With the Extended Distance connection, distances of up to 300 m can be

reached between two Extended Distance devices. If only one connection is

configured for Extended Distance, the maximum distance between the stations

is 100 m. The EK1121-0010 supports coupling and uncoupling of EtherCAT

segments during operation (Hot Connect).

Beckhoff EK1110-0043 | EtherCAT EJ coupler, CX and ELterminal connection

The EK1110-0043 EtherCAT EJ Coupler connects the compact Embedded

PCs from the CX series and the attached EtherCAT Terminals with the

EtherCAT plug-in modules on an application-specific circuit board (signal

distribution board).

Special features:

• Connection technology: 1 x connector at the rear of the EtherCAT EJ Coupler

• Forwarding of E-bus signals and field supply to the signal distribution board

The E-bus signals and the supply voltage of the field side UP are routed

directly to the signal distribution board via a plug connector at the rear of

the EtherCAT EJ Coupler. Thanks to the direct coupling of the Embedded PC

and EtherCAT terminals with the EtherCAT plug-in modules on the PCB, no

EtherCAT extension (EK1110) or EtherCAT Coupler (EJ1100) is required.

The system and field supply of the EK1110-0043 is provided by the power

supply unit of the Embedded PC.

The Embedded PC can be extended with EtherCAT Terminals that are not yet

available in the EJ system, for example. The preassembled subsystem, consisting

of a printed circuit board with mounted DIN rail, Embedded PC and EtherCAT

plug-in modules, can be tested in advance and subsequently integrated into

the machine assembly as a complete unit.
