Power Supply, CPU/RBC, and I/O Location in Base

The power supply must always be installed in the left most slot of the

base. To the right of the power supply is a slot for a CPU or RBC. The

remaining 4. 8 (shown below) or 16 slots are for I/O or communication

modules.

CAUTION:

Use only CTI or Siemens® power supplies at their rated voltage. Damage to the

backplane board and other system components could occur if out of range

input voltage is applied.

CTI 2500-R16 Sixteen-Slot Base

Description

The 2500-R4 / 2500-R8 / 2500-R16 bases provide four, eight, or sixteen slots for I/O

modules in the SIMATIC® 505 or CTI 2500 Series platform.

The bases provide space for a power supply, a CPU or RBC, and slots for

up to four, eight, or sixteen I/O modules. The base may be mounted from the front or rear.

Features

• Replaces Siemens® 505-6504. 505-6508. or 505-6516

• Four, eight, or sixteen I/O slots

• Up to 128. 256. or 512 I/O points (4. 8. or 16 slot respectively)

• Mounts from the front or rear

Installing the Mounting Rack

Use the following steps for installing the mounting rack.

1.Determine if the rack will be mounted with front or rear mounts.

2.Locate the mounting ears in the appropriate front or rear locations with supplied

hardware.

3.Mount the rack with screws in four ‘ear’ slots (screw hardware not included).

Include sufficient distance from other heat sources to maximize convection

airflow cooling.

4.Follow manufacturer’s instructions for proper installation and removal of CPU,

RBC, and I/O modules.

The CTI 2572 Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter is a single wide I/O module

The CTI 2572 Ethernet TCP/IP Adapter is a single

wide I/O module for SIMATIC® 505 controllers.  The

2572 module connects to Ethernet local area networks,

enabling the PLC to communicate with other network

stations using the Transmission Control Protocol/

Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).  Using the CTI 2572

facilities, suitably programmed network stations can

acquire data from the PLC, send data and programs to

the PLC, and exercise supervisory control over the

PLC operation.  In addition, the PLC can use the CTI

2572 to access data in other PLC systems equipped

with a CTI 2572.

The 2572 attaches to all Ethernet media specified by

IEEE 802.3 including 10Base5 (“thick” coaxial cable),

10Base2 (“thin” coaxial cable), 10BaseT (unshielded

twisted pair cabling), FOIRL (fiber optic cable) and

10BaseFL (fiber optic cable).  10BaseT cabling can be

attached directly to the 2572 via an RJ-45 connector.

Other IEEE 802.3 media may be connected to the AUI

(Attachment Unit Interface) port via a user supplied

transceiver.

The 2572 module also provides two serial ports that

can be used for configuration and diagnostic activities.

Both serial ports can operate concurrently.

The 2572 module itself requires no customer

programming.  All configuration options can be set by

module switches or written to module EEPROM via a

serially attached personal computer.  Optionally, PLC

logic can be used to set module configuration and to

control the operation of the module.

CTI The 2500P-ACP1 Application Coprocessor module is a general-purpose auxiliary controller

The 2500P-ACP1 Application Coprocessor module is a general-purpose auxiliary controller that enhances

the capabilities of all Siemens Series 505® and CTI 2500 Series® PLC systems. This Advanced Function

Module (AFM) includes high-speed processing and multi-protocol communications support to

provide existing systems with a significant increase in performance and functionality.

The 2500P-ACP1 generally runs as a PLC coprocessor performing complex logic/math functions,

data logging, and communications with external devices. Although the 2500P-ACP1 can operate

as a stand-alone controller, the application generally requires data transfer between a host PLC

and the module.

The 2500P-ACP1 supports Ethernet communications through two 10/100Mb Ethernet ports and

RS-232/RS-422 connections through the serial port.

Embedded client and server protocols can be used for data transfer with other controllers and

devices. All message processing for client operation (request triggering, packet send/receive,

message validation, data insertion/extraction, and error handling/retries) is done in the module

with no PLC logic required.

CTI The ACP1 module includes two options for real-time data transfer

The ACP1 module includes two options for real-time data transfer:

 Direct PLC I/O bus: Allows the ACP1 coprocessor to emulate a standard I/O module so

that discrete and/or word image register data is transferred each PLC scan.

 Data Cache: Proprietary link offering enhanced data throughput to CTI 2500 Series®

controllers via an external Ethernet connection. Provides access to all PLC memory

types and up to 1024 PLC memory locations.

CTI Workbench is used for configuration of module parameters and development of the user

application program for the 2500P-ACP1. CTI Workbench is a full-featured utility with integrated

configuration tool, programming editor, debugger, data monitor, and simulator. The application

program may be developed in any of five IEC-61131 programming languages. A complete library

of functions is provided to perform the following tasks:

 Complex mathematical computations

 Boolean logic

 Data conversion

 String handling

 Timer/Counter operations

 PID control

 Alarm monitoring

 Complete data logging system (including time-stamped data storage and automatic FTP

file transfer to remote FTP Server)

 CAMP Client

 Open Modbus Client

 Open Modbus Server

 Network Data Exchange (Binding) Publish/Subscribe

 Modbus RTU Master (serial)

 Modbus RTU Slave (serial)

 General ASCII Send/Receive (serial)

The module provides extensive diagnostic facilities, accessible via a standard web browser, to

monitor module status and aid in the detection and correction of errors.  The web server provides

access to product information, Ethernet operational statistics, and diagnostic history.
