Bachmann UIO108 Universal Input/Output Module

The cost and performance optimized design of complex

automation solutions involves a large number of different

sensor and actuator types. The standard 10 V and 4 mA

to 20 mA interfaces are often not sufficient to achieve

demanding objectives.

With the UIO108. a single module type covers all common

analog and digital signals for inputs and outputs that can

be configured individually for each channel. The extensive

versatility of the module is rounded off by a wide range

of additional functions such as counters, encoders, pulse

width modulation and the control of a stepper motor

driver. This simplifies the entire process from the quotation

phase through planning, programming and commissioning,

right up to stockkeeping and servicing. Besides the 8 freely

configurable primary channels, up to 8 additional I/O chan

nels with restricted signal types are available.

Bachmann Analog Input/Output Modules

The range of the AIO104/I module type extends from current loops, high-impedance

voltage measuring ranges, temperature measurement via Pt100/Pt1000 sensor in 2-,

3- and 4-wire technology, as well as thermo-couples and free configurable resistance

measurement. The module offers the advantages of an extremely versatile multi-signal

type analog input/output module combined with channel-wise galvanic isolation.

The integrated measuring range and measured value monitoring enable both sensor

circuit faults as well as process alarms to be implemented easily.

The AIM112 module type is particularly useful when a large number of different interfaces

requires a correspondingly large variety of types of acquisition modules. Up to 12 analog

inputs can be individually configured to the desired signal type. Alternatively, channel types

for all industrially relevant thermocouples including integrated characteristic linearization

are available for measuring very wide temperature ranges.

Bachmann Function Modules Highly precise, fast and future-proof

The completely new hardware architecture and a system design based

on the highest security standards are built for long term use.

The function modules of the M100 series offer impressive performance,

state-of-the-art technology and a wide range of expansion options for

the best possible future. Make the right system decision today for tomorrow.

The EII102 combines many highly precise functions in a single module.

The module allows for extremely fast edge counting, measurement of periods

and pulse durations, and the evaluation of incremental encoders up to 32 MHz

for demanding motion and handling applications. Immediate reactions such as

latch, reset or counter enable are triggerable via digital inputs on the module.

An encoder supply directly via the module terminals completes the product family.

The EAS102 module type makes it possible to evaluate up to 2 absolute encoders.

SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface) is used as the communication protocol.

Furthermore, a parity check and the evaluation of transmitted special purpose

bits are supported. The counting direction can be defined via the V/R output.

Referencing is initiated via the SET output. Digitally transmitted encoder errors

can be detected via a separate input. If the actual position is reaching a configured

comparison value, module-to-module communication enables a digital output to

be switched at the adjacent module without any time loss.

Bachmann EAS102 Absolute Encoder Interface Module

Type EAS102 M100 modules make it possible to evaluate

up to 2 absolute encoders. SSI (Synchronous Serial Interface)

is used as the communication protocol.

The EAS102 offers the openness of an extensively configurable

SSI protocol. Furthermore, a parity check and

the evaluation of transmitted special purpose bits are supported.

The counting direction can be defined via the DIR

output. Referencing is initiated via the SET output. Digitally

transmitted encoder errors can be detected via a separate

input. If the actual position is reaching a configured comparison

value, module-to-module communication enables

a digital output to be switched at the adjacent module

without any time loss. An encoder supply directly via the

module terminals enables a complete and fast SSI encoder

connection directly via the connector panel of the EAS102

module.

Bachmann Processor Modules Scalable performance and unique robustness

Processor modules form the core intelligence of an automation system.

They collect sensor data, process control functions and closed-loop controls

in microsecond cycles, and issue precise commands to actuators.

The functions can be implemented in the traditional procedural manner,

derived from model-based simulations, or generated automatically with

generative AI. Sufficient performance reserves are crucial – for example,

to handle parallel motion control, image processing, state data acquisition,

and advanced diagnostics.

In addition, processor modules connect real-time processing with IT and OT

systems: via real-time Ethernet to the field level and other control nodes,

as well as upstream to the control room, MES/ERP systems, or the cloud.

Cryptographic methods, hardened system environments, resilient software

design, and regular penetration tests are indispensable for cybersecurity.

The non-negotiable basic requirement: reliable 24/7/365 operation.

This starts with the system design – using durable, robust components,

generous design reserves, and thorough testing during type approval and

series production. These measures ensure that the automation system

remains safe and autonomously operational at all times, even under harsh

environmental conditions and electromagnetic interference.
