Bachmann BPR1nn Backplanes for DIN-rail mounting

The backplane combines the node adapter and the I/O

modules into a mechanically robust, EMC compliant unit

that can be fitted on a standard DIN mounting rail and

also removed in an instant.

Fully assembled I/O stations can thus be pre-tested after

mounting and transferred to the application without

further modification. This assembly enables individual

modules to be exchanged and retro fitted without

having to remove the unaffected modules.

The backplane enables real-time communication between

modules as well as with the node adapter, provides the

power supply to the logic side of the modules and enables

module-to-module communication.

Features

● M100 system backplane for DIN-rail mounting

● 4 to 32 slots

● Mechanically robust, self-supporting base for modules

● Module exchange without the removal of other modules

● Enables complete pre-assembly and testing

● Any slots possible as reserve (gaps)

Bachmann System Modules / Basic Components Ingenious mounting concept

The backplane combines the node adapter and the I/O modules into

a mechanically robust EMC compliant unit. Fully assembled I/O stations

can thus be pre-tested after mounting and transferred to the application

without further modification. Backplanes allow for real-time communication

between modules as well as with the node adapter and provide the power

supply to the logic side of the modules.

The IP40 conform structure and the installation concept of the M100 make

it possible to mount the stations directly on or in the machine, either on a

mounting rail or through direct screw mounting. In addition, the individual

modules are bolted and they remain fixed in place, even if subjected to

vibration or shock loads.

Empty slots on backplanes are useful for optional retrofits, machine

variants or for keeping reserve space in plant construction.

The BPC101 backplane slot cover protects each slot from mechanical

influences, electrostatic discharge and contamination.

Bachmann Fieldbus Node Adapter Standard-compliant and high performing

A new dimension in decentralized peripherals – with the M100 series,

Bachmann is launching an I/O system that not only fits perfectly into

the Bachmann portfolio with its uncompromising robustness, but also

opens up completely new possibilities for machine and plant builders

due to its compact design.

Modular machine concepts in demanding environments significantly

reduce the costs of variants. The decentralized positioning of I/O

stations also reduces wiring efforts, and therefore costs. With the

M100 I/O system, up to 744 digital or 372 analog channels per

station can be positioned cost-effectively in the smallest possible

space.

For the first release, Bachmann has implemented EtherCAT as a

standardized, real-time capable fieldbus. The NEC102 node adapter

maps the powerful and flexibly configurable M100 station to a

standard EtherCAT interface. The operating modes of the M100 I/O

modules are defined during the configuration and are available to

both an Bachmann master as well as to masters of other manufacturers.

Thanks to distributed clocks on the EtherCAT stations that can be

synchronized with external time servers, the implementation of short

control intervals across the entire control system is given.

The Bachmann hardware platform design is at the very latest state

of the art: System architectures, processors, logic, and signal interfaces

are based on the newest technologies and provide a backbone for

minimal power dissipation, ultra-fast data transmission and next-generation

IT security. Secure Boot initialization prevents the compromise of fieldbus

hardware and allows for the secure integration of remote I/O stations into

the automation network.

Bachmann COM102. COM102/D, COM104 Serial Interface Modules

The module for the backplane offers 2 resp. 4 serial inter

faces. The standards RS-485. RS-422 and RS-232 can be

selected as well as the baud rate and the handshake proce

dure. The interfaces can be used with the communication

solutions for Modbus RTU/ASCII, IEC 60870-5-101 and -103

or DNP3. Customized protocols can be implemented in PLC

and C/C++. Thanks to the native mapping of the COM ports

in the operating system of the controller CPU, no fieldbus

data points need to be considered in the application pro

gram. The LEDs on the module enable targeted diagnostics

in the switch cabinet even without a PC.

– State of terminating resistor

Bachmann Analog Input/Output Modules Versatile, robust and highly compact

With their metal housing, the analog input and output modules of the M100 series

are highly compact, extremely robust and packed with functions.

The M100 hardware design minimizes failures caused by operating conditions

and guarantees high-efficiency operational performance over the long run.

The cost and performance optimized design of complex automation solutions

involves a large number of different sensor and actuator types.

The standard 10 V and 4 mA to 20 mA interfaces are often not sufficient to

achieve demanding objectives. With the universal talent UIO106. a single

module type covers all common analog and digital signals for inputs and outputs

that can be configured individually for each channel. The extensive versatility of

the module is rounded off by a wide range of additional functions such as

counters, encoders or pulse width modulation.

Temperature measurements represent the largest group of analog interfaces in

industrial automation. All the more reason why technical perfection and

cost-effectiveness are important requirements here. Both requirements are perfectly

covered by the AIO112 modules. Up to 12 Pt100/Pt1000 sensors can be

cost-effectively connected to a single module using a 2 wire connection technology.

If not all channels are required for temperature measurement, up to 6 channels can

be used as current outputs.

Bachmann Communication Modules Space-saving. Versatile. Native.

In the world of PCs, COM ports have long been replaced by USB.

However, in the area of industrial communication between devices,

serial interfaces are still highly relevant. Even an RS-232 connection

permits longer cable distances than USB. The balanced signal transmission

of RS-422 enables robust data exchange over several kilometers – and

this with a cost-effective copper cable. The RS-485 standard is suitable

for both point-to-point connections and bus topologies with up to 32

participants.

A wide range of communication partners are available. Interoperability

is ensured by standards such as IEC 60870-5-101. -103 or DNP3 Serial.

Even proprietary protocols for peripheral devices, such as connecting an

RFID reader, can usually be quickly integrated into an application program.

As well as performance, security is a key driver for the choice of COM-ports

as serial interfaces. The point-to-point connection via physical cable

between clearly identifiable devices offers a high level of security, as the

communication cannot be disrupted by intermediate devices or network

components. Cyberattacks on devices connected via COM ports are harder

to execute and usually easier to detect compared to those in a TCP/IP network.
