Firmware

“Project management – Workspace – Upgrades” in Automation Help).

B&R EtherCAT is an Ethernet-based fieldbus developed by Beckhoff

EtherCAT

EtherCAT is an Ethernet-based fieldbus developed by Beckhoff. This protocol is suitable for both hard

and soft real-time requirements in automation technology. In addition to a ring structure, which becomes

logically necessary because of the summation frame telegram used, the EtherCAT technology also phys

ically supports topologies such as line, tree, star (limited) and combinations of these topologies. B&R’s

X20BC80G3 (expandable bus controller module) and X20HB88G0 (standalone junction base module) are

available for implementing these topologies.

EtherCAT slave devices take the data designated for them from a telegram as it is passing through the

device. Input data is also added to the telegram as it is passing through.

Master systems without FoE (File access over EtherCAT) support require an appropriate configuration tool

to transfer the configuration (optional).

Error codes

The module returns an error code if an error occurs. A complete list of all error codes in PDF format is avail

able in under item “Communication_Error” in section “Communication / Fieldbus systems / Support with

FDT/DTM / Diagnostic functions / Diagnostics on the runtime system / Master diagnostics” in Automation

Help.

B&R X20IF10G3-1 Module description

Module description

The interface module is equipped with an EtherCAT interface. This allows the B&R system (I/O modules,

POWERLINK, etc.) to be connected to systems from other manufacturers and makes it possible to quickly

and easily transfer data in both directions.

The interface is equipped with 2 RJ45 connections. Both connections result in an integrated switch. This

makes it easy to implement daisy chain cabling.

Functions:

• EtherCAT slave

• Error monitoring

EtherCAT

EtherCAT is an Ethernet-based fieldbus developed by Beckhoff. This protocol is suitable for both hard and

soft real-time requirements in automation technology.

Error monitoring

The status of the module and fieldbus is monitored. An error code is returned if an error occurs.

B&R X20CM0985 X20 Synchronization Unit

The resulting measured values include the pure phase current; line-to-line voltage or phase

voltage; the effective, reactive and apparent power parts; the mains frequency; the power

factor and much more. In addition, peak values and energy meters are stored on the module

in nonvolatile memory. Depending on the configuration, it is also possible to use a digital

output as a pulse encoder for an external energy meter.

The synchronization unit doesn’t just take the phasing and phase voltage into consideration;

integrated intelligence also monitors the rate of change and other parameters, allowing them

to influence when the synchronization output is switched. It is also possible to monitor a

generator using a large number of additional conditions. A total of 4 voltage inputs provide

substantial overall flexibility.

Monitoring functions expand the features of the module. Dependent overcurrent monitoring is

included, which utilizes the thermal capacity of the motor/generator to allow short overloads

while still providing full protection. The dependent, delayed imbalanced load monitoring used

to protect three-phase generator and three-phase networks from imbalanced load can be

adapted to the characteristics of different generator types using parameters while taking their

special thermal time constants into account.

Prosoft PLX51-PBS PROFIBUS DP Slave to EtherNet/IP™, Modbus® TCP/IP, or Modbus® Serial Gateway

Modbus® Serial networks for PROFIBUS DP networks by operating as a PROFIBUS

DP slave.

For easy integration to a Rockwell Automation Controller, the gateway and

configuration software create dynamic AOI’s based on the user configuration to add

logical tag names to the PLC project file. Thus, reducing programming time.

For configuration of Modbus TCP/IP or Modbus Serial Networks, the module will

automatically map PROFIBUS DP data points to registers on a Modbus network.

With advanced tools such as a built in PROFIBUS DP packet capture utility,

PROFIBUS DP network commissioning time can be greatly reduced.

Dual Ethernet ports of the module can support either DLR (Device Level Ring)

topology, or can be used as an embedded switch for flexible installation options.

With support for up to 1536 bytes of Input and Output data, and up to 4 EtherNet/IP

connections back to the processor, this module provides performance and data

throughput for even the most demanding of PROFIBUS applications.

As a PROFIBUS DP slave device, the module can emulate from 1 to as many as 10

slave DP nodes, providing up to 1536 bytes of Input and Output Cyclic I/O data

between EtherNet/IP devices and a PROFIBUS DP master. This eliminates the need

for using DPV1 messaging when more than 244 bytes of data needs to be exchanged

between a PROFIBUS master and an EtherNet/IP network.

Prosoft PLX51-PBS PROFIBUS DP Slave drive Features

Features

 Supports DLR for EtherNet/IP networks

 Support for either EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, or Modbus Serial Communication networks

 PROFIBUS slave OR multi-slave support

 PROFIBUS packet capture tool built in

Configuration

The PLX50 Configuration Utility software is used for configuration and troubleshooting of

the module. The stand-alone configuration utility allows users to define the setup and

configuration of the PROFIBUS DP module, connections with Rockwell Automation controllers

and devices over EtherNet/IP, and build custom Add-On Instructions (AOIs) to be imported

into Studio 5000 applications.

With the ability to import custom AOI’s into the Studio 5000 environment and advanced

connections to a Controller (Scanner) on an EtherNet/IP network. The use of

EtherNet/IP Class 1 I/O connections for transfer of PROFIBUS DP cyclic data, provides

fast data transfer between networks for increased performance on time critical

PROFIBUS DP applications.

EtherNet/IP Client

As an EtherNet/IP client, the module can generate Get Attribute, Set Attribute, Set

Static, or Custom messages using either Class 3 messaging or UCCM messaging on

EtherNet/IP. With support for up to 5 unique devices on one module and a total of up to

50 mapping functions, this functionality allows EtherNet/IP devices such as Overload

Protection Relays and Variable Frequency Drives to be mapped onto a PROFIBUS DP

network.
