How it works

Standard configuration

The Aalborg CHB design consists of a large furnace welded to vertical, plain-type convection

tubes with spiral inserts. The low-alloyed plate material is easy to weld and is highly durable

to prevent cracking. Aalborg CHB boilers have fully water-cooled furnaces and can be

equipped with various burner types. The boiler comes complete with connections, foundation,

inspection hatches, manhole, hand-holes, insulation with sheeting as well as all valves and fittings.

Other standard features include:

• Modulating boiler water regulation

• Burner type according to preference and the type of fuel used

• Alfa Laval Gas Valve Units (GVU) and Methanol valve units (MVU) for alternative fuels

• Processor-based control system

• Control panel with touchscreen interface for all necessary operation, communication,

safety and alarm functions

• Integrated water-washing device

• Spare parts according to classification society demands

A pressurized deaerator ensures optimal feedwater quality

by thermally degassing dissolved oxygen and other non

condensable gases. This significantly reduces corrosion risk

and improves the reliability and longevity of the boiler system.

Technical data

Aalborg CHB boilers offer capacities ranging from 0.75 to 8 t/h.

Standard design pressure is between 10 and 18 bar(g), with

thermal output up to 6 MW. The table below shows capacities

and dimensions for the standard product range.

of up to 89% at nominal load. With a number of advanced design

improve thermal efficiency.

For emission-free port operation, electric heating elements

can be integrated to provide steam while the vessel is

connected to shore power.

Introduction

The Alfa Laval Aalborg CHB is a vertical, highly efficient marine

steam boiler designed with an advanced convection section. In

addition to conventional marine fuels, the boiler is fully compatible

with a wide range of alternative fuels, such as methanol.

For low-emission port operations, the boiler can be equipped

with integrated electric heating elements. This enables reliable

steam production while the vessel is connected to shore power,

eliminating the need for fuel firing during berth periods.

Thanks to an upgraded thermal design with optimized flue gas

oxygen content, the Aalborg CHB offers a level of efficiency that

far surpasses typical boilers of a similar capacity range. This

ensures both lower operating costs and a reduced environmental

impact.

The boiler is ready to be plugged in. Supplied with ready-mounted burner, control panel,

fittings and cables.

Easy inspection and maintenance

To the greatest possible extent, all connections and valves are located on top of the boiler

– easily accessible during installation, inspection and maintenance. A number of manholes

facilitate internal inspection.

The smoke tubes are fast and easy to clean thanks to the low number and efficiency of

the spiral tubes.

Uniform, high steam quality

The boiler’s efficient steam drier delivers a dry, saturated steam. A superheater can also

be installed.

Improved combustion

The furnace has a comparatively low heat release ratio and provides ample space for the

flame. This improves combustion and limits flue gas emissions.

Accessories

The boiler plant can be equipped with economizer, superheater, condensate tank, deaerator,

feed water tank, blow down tank, and O2 combustion control.

Aesthetic machine visualizations in modern design, which can also be

v450 web panel and our web-based offer, consisting of the EASY UI Designer

project planning tool and the FAST UI Runtime on the c430. c520. and c550

The v430 and v450 web panels as browser-based display units with capacitive

multi-touch displays are the ideal devices for modern topologies of machine

visualization. Both device series are offered in 7″, 10.1″ and 15.6″ screen

diagonals and are identical in terms of performance and functionality. The

main difference arises from the way they are mounted:

The Web Panel v450 has a fully enclosed housing with IP67 protection and is

therefore suitable for flexible applications. It can be mounted on a support

arm, on a wall, or on the control cabinet wall.

The v430 web panel, on the other hand, is ideally suited for classic mounting in

the control cabinet wall.
